Los vs portions effects on mouth

As many here know, I've used mainly los (Skruf) for the past year or so, but now I am switching to mainly portions. I seem to recall reading several articles about how los is more damaging for your gums/teeth but never experienced any problems, except the time I used GES los (that tore my gums up). Anyway, I used General portions all day yesterday and my gums are tender and red today!! This kinda leads me to thinking that portions are actually worse for your mouth than los! Or is it just me and my mouth needing adjustment?? I know topics such as this have been posted before, but I've been using snus for over 2 years, I had thought my mouth was acclimated to snus!

As you said, research says portions are easier on the gums than lös, but I have the same experience as you. What I think might be going on, is portions are rougher on the top surface of the gum, but lös can get wedged between the teeth, and small pieces can get under the gum causing irritation, and recession where it really matters(where tissue meets air). I know portions are much more likely to give me a sore mouth. So far my recession isn't bad, so I'm sticking with lös for now. It would take some pretty severe gum problems to get me to switch to portions.

My recession pretty much has halted after I quit smoking. I have been using mostly portions but also los and longcut.

The longcut, lower lip definately will leave the cheek raw/rough if used too much.

*Gingival recessions are more common in users of loose snus than in users of portion-packed snus and are irreversible.
*Snus lesions are reversible, i.e. the oral mucosa reverses to normal condition after cessation of snus use.
*Users of portion-packed snus have less pronounced snus lesions than users of loose snus.
