Im into snus now, I anit going back to smoking....I just gotta find a taste I like, I have used Gen. Original for about 2 days now....Slowly getting used to it...But I gotta be honest I dont look foward to the taste...I hope the Wintergreen will be better.

I have a question for you guys....I freeze my snus...does it matter? Also I keep my snus in for well over a hour...maybe even a couple hours...Does anyone else do that also? Do I keep getting nicotine if I keep it in that long? or does the Nic run out after awhile? Anyone care to comment on Skruf?

sheilalynn, I dunno what to tell ya....

I keep my "in use" snus in the fridge. My stored snus goes in the freezer.

I keep my snus in for 1 hour minimum. I've had it in as long as 4 hours, and even longer when sleeping. My average time is probably 1.5 hours. The nicotine drops off at that point, but if you're happy, who cares? There's no right or wrong way to snus. If you like what you're doing, keep it up.

Skruf is a very popular snus, as is it's cheaper brother Knox. I'm one of the few that isn't a big fan. The taste just doesn't agree with me. The one exception to that is the stark lös. I really dig that, but only use it once or twice per day. I find the flavor very rich, and I use it like a dessert snus, though it doesn't have any sweetness.

        ShAtTeR DrEaMz,

It'll take about 2 weeks to get used to the salt. In the beginning I liked the General wintergreen because the wintergreen masked the salt and Ettan because it was low salt. I lost the taste for both of those once I got used to the salt. Another one that I used in the beginning was Probe, which I hate now. The Thunder Frosted would be good too. The stronger flavors will mask the salt.

I use my portions on average for 2 hours (or more) and I chain snsus all day long. I use a total of 6-8 portions a day and that replaced a 38 year smoking habit where I was smoking up to 3 packs a day.

Stark is not the enemy! Stark is very useful in the morning or at any time when you want a little extra bump. I wouldn't advise trying it until you're used to the effects of regular portions first.

Lots of former smokers go for the starks and ekstra sterks because the initial head-rush is stronger than a normal snus, and more comparable to a cigarette. I rarely use them but do enjoy them once in a while

Shatter, you might also want to give nasal snuff a try. I know Sheilalynn, CoderGuy and myself all do snus, nasal snuff and electronic cigarettes -- every day, often at the same time.

I've really grown fond of some of the nasal snuffs (it takes awhile to get used to sniffing the stuff and getting the right amount). Bullets are wonderful to get it right as a beginner. Many here like Togue; I prefer Dholakia, as in Swiss Chocolate and Coffee Bite.

You might want to look at the new American Discreet snus, as well. A little less sweet than Camel, but not the knock-you-down harshness of some Swedish snus. I'd steer clear of anything "sterk" for a long time.

Congrats on quitting cigs. I'm in Florida, too, and my tobacco store guy said cartons of my old favorite are now $70. Meanwhile, Phillie Blunts are a special at 2 for $1. Guess where the tobacco market is heading ...
