    It's time.....yep......time to quit....snus

A little over one year ago I tried my first piece of snus. It was love at first taste, however, as with all things good and bad--they must end. I used snus to quit smoking cigarettes and it worked rather well. I've been smoke free for about a year.

The problem is that I have a nasty snus habit sometimes using 12 portions a day plus a Los pris or two. As much as I love snus, I can't deny that it caused havoc in my mouth. My gums receeded noticabley and my teeth were banana yellow.

In the long term snus will destroy your mouth--anybody that says otherwise is a ****ing liar probably working for Swedish Match. Your teeth will fall out, your dick will stop working, and to top it off you'll probably have part of your jaw bone removed.

I don't work for Swedish Match, nor am I a liar, but I've noticed no discernible adverse oral effects in the course of the four years I've snused. Everyone's different though, so I'm not going to call you a liar. :P

My dick works quite well, too.

Take up nasal snuff. Your dick will be safe, but your nose will fall off.

Actually, since I've been using snus my teeth and gums are looking better.

Not because of the snus. Or maybe, depending on how you look at it.

Since I started using snus I've been paying a lot more attention to my teeth and gums. Electric tooth brush. Brushing a lot longer and more frequently. Using a good antiseptic mouth rinse.

          But that's me. Everyone's different.

The key for me is moderation. Hell, the stress relief I experience while snusing probably does me enough good to offset any negative effects of using snus.

              Sorry, I couldn't resist:

              My spin on things:

Actually, since I've been using snus my cack and balls are looking better.

Well hot damn, I'm quitting snus now...
                nah, screw that.
I definitely need to make regular trips to the dentist a priority though

Sorry to hear about your issues man. You can even die drinking too much water. Now that you sounded off, what are you going to do?

Go back to smoking that is proven to kill you? Try to use a patch or other big pharma product that doesn't do shit?

Not trying to put you on the spot, but to sound off is one thing, just curious what your next step is...

                    Sorry to see you go.

It's sad to hear about someone quiting snus. This is more than tobacco, this is a movement. We are here fighting corperations who sell death and misery at $5 a pack. Our support creates a market for people who refuse to destroy themselves with cigarettes, and dip, and still shove it to the fascist anti-tobacco groups who would like us all to be addicted to nicotine gum, and patches.

Personally speaking, I keep a pris in all day, and have for about two years. My teeth are whiter than when I smoked, my gums are healthy, and, I'm proud to say, my lip is wrinkly. I love the stuff. I plan on being buried with a can of Ettan lรถs.

I hope the myth that tobacco is inherently deadly will end. The fact of the matter is that cooked food is carcinogenic. Tooth paste is carcinogenic. Broccoli, apples, strawberries, all carcinogenic. I get more carcinogens from my barbecue than my snus.

The thing that scares me is my gummy bear habit. That stuff WILL rot your teeth out.

Azrsuperstar: Try brushing your teeth more frequently. I don't say this insinuating that you don't have good dental habits, but you may just have to step it up a notch. I brush once more daily than I used to when I smoked, and I have had no problems whatsoever.

were the problems you are mentioning not there when you smoked?

I've been using snus for almost two years. I use a lot of snus, more than the person who started this topic.

Ill effects? None so far. My dentist has noted no gum recession (I keep the snus up high and it never rests on my gum line, I make sure of that). He has noted that my oral health has improved markedly, especially the state of my gums. They used to be somewhat puffy, but now they're a healthy pink and not the least bit puffy. The inside of my lip is usually wrinkly by the end of the day, but that goes away by morning.

My dick works fine. Maybe I'm a rarity, but snus hasn't even remotely decreased my sex drive. In fact, my sex drive increased markedly when I quit smoking. Snus has never given me any erectile guff.

As for my jaw bone being removed, I suggest you go back and read the plethora of research that's been done on the subject of snus and health. Find me a case in which a user of Swedish snus, not American dip or chaw, has had their jaw bone removed due to cancer. You can't. It's like asking somebody to find a case in which a person has overdosed on smoked cannabis. You can't because it doesn't happen.

Quit if you want. It's probably for the best. But really, snus is pretty low risk. Don't give people a false impression.

There was the one case of the Swedish 90 year old who got mouth cancer after 70+ years using snus. So beware.

I dont think I have the genetics to make to to 90. Alcohol or other poor lifestyle choices are a far greater risk factor for me.
