Anti-snus doctors on blogger meddling in our affairs

I blog like a madman, and Airwoodstock started a snus blog, Mr. Unloadingzone's blog was a great source of info when I started Swedish snus. I was looking for info on Tourney, and why it doesn't seem to be available near Seattle....I found this anti-snus blog on blogspot, it's uuuuhhh....worth a look? I guess?
They are all about the "pro-kids" line against snus, and it's "their purpose" to make sure the EU ban isn't overturned and to 'make sure' that Snus test marketing in America fails....what a bunch of dicks.

    http://snus-news.blogspot.com/2008/0...peedway-c.html

dig this, this is a quote:

    """
Our goal initially was two fold: to make sure the ban against the use of SNUS (except in Sweden) in the EU is not overturned and that the test marketing of various SNUS products in the U.S. fails. With SNUS in order to be considered spitless the user has to keep the pouch stationary in their for 20-30 minutes any movement will result in more saliva being released and the urge to spit will increases.

Inveterate (hard-nosed, long established, deep-rooted) smokers will not take the time to master the technique of snusing but young adults and kids that want to be young adults will.."""

I left these jerkoffs the following comment:

    aaron said...
I understand where you guys are coming from, but I am a 31 year old former adult smoker who managed to quit smoking 100% with the help of Swedish snus. I realize that the tobacco industry as a whole is thoughtless and moneygrubbing. But if you succeed in your "mission" there will be a whole lot of adult snus users who may go back to smoking because the thing that helped them quit is no longer available. Why not just educate KIDS, they aren't stupid, but they ARE impressionable. It's up to parents to keep their kids away from harm, not you. Just like it's not my job as a childless adult to be concerned with the children of the masses...you should worry about your own kids, if you have them and leave adults to their own decisions.

That's a damn good comment, ponysoprano, very stringent and dead-on!

Just what these perverts deserve, without being impolite (like every comment would be that I'd give them :wink.

      Cheers!

The anti-tobacco sentiment worldwide today is infuriating. People come to the snap decision that ALL tobacco is bad; and I suppose it is, if it's to be black and white like that, but how about tobacco is worse? Like as in, "tobacco is worse than not using it?" Why don't people try and ban scrapple? I'm sure nearly as many people worldwide die from congestive heart failure or heart attack (who don't use tobacco) as do people who die from tobacco-related illnesses.

I nearly lost my mind on a man today who told me pornography should be banned because "it objectifies women." I've never seen a picture in Playboy (or even Maxim, for that matter) of a woman who looked ashamed, or sad to be there. Why does America want people to deny that we have sexual desires? Why can't we celebrate beauty? I know it's off topic, but to me, it's almost the same prudishness and puritanism that this country was founded to escape.

        I'm rather jaded today, no?

I could say many things about how I feel about America and it's current state of special interest groups, but I would just be repeating/rewording what I have already said in previous posts.

I will say that Pony's post is far more classy than anything that I could have ever spouted off in response to a blog like that.

As far as a man saying that porno objectifies women... Tell the dude to go to a news stand, buy a playgirl and come to terms with his inner demons.

Oooooh, burn! Good point, sir. Good point. He was a psycho anyway. He was convinced that if you don't have a good cry with your wife every day, you're a wife batterer.

You guys crack me up! I agree there's many women, and probably men that get into the porn industry to pay for college or whatever, they know what they're getting into. At this point there's not a whole lot of difference between magazines like Maxim and Playboy, except maybe a nipple or two. As far as having a good cry with your spouse, I'm sure it's healthy, but as cocsp2002 probably can attest to; having a good snus and conversation with your wife is better!

Well said Pony! I read thru the site and had to comment as well. Here's my two cents:

                  That Snus Guy said...
I have to agree with Aaron. While I do agree with you about under age tobacco usage being a bit out of control, education is the key to preventing it. My teenager and her friends don't smoke. She made the decision even though my wife and I quit recently. It wasn't due to the "Anti-Tobacco" ads littering the countryside and internet that influenced her decision, it was due to our educating her on the risks involved and letting her make the decision. Kids are impressionable and will make the right decisions based on what they are taught.

While you may think you are "educating the masses" on the evils of smoking and Tobacco usage in general, what you seem to be doing is "Muckraking" and villanizing adults that use it.

I also have quit smoking via Swedish Snus after trying every other means possible. My advise to you is, try researching the positive effects snus has had in Sweden and the US as a smoking alternative prior to preparing your posts in the future.

If you all heard a loud bang, that was my jaw hitting the floor.

Someone responding positively to a rational criticism of an anti-tobacco blog? What's next, George W. presiding over a gay pride parade?

Maybe there is hope after all.

                    Nice job, pony.

Thanks guys. MY jaw hit the floor when I found that blog while searching for info on Tourney. I figured I wouldn't sink to their level, and decided to take the diplomatic route as a snus representative. If Woodstock and I had left profanity laden insulting comments that would be detrimental to all of us as smokeless users. I don't really think the tobacco industry as a whole is evil per sé, it's not black and white like that, there's enough info and govt. warnings that any adult nic user knows what they're getting into. I believe marketing to kids is low though. I cracked up when I read their thing about "adult smokers will not take the time to 'matster' the use of snus, but kids will" yeah, snus is really hard to learn how to use LOL , you stuff it in your lip and sit back and enjoy, god that's tough.

                        Here is the exact quote:

Inveterate (hard-nosed, long established, deep-rooted) smokers will not take the time to master the technique of snusing
I tend to agree with this because there are some ultra hardcore smokers out there that will only quit when you pull the butt from their cold dead hand... However they are not the majority, and I think that snus is hugely beneficial for those who are ready to quit...

no, I got that, you were agreeing, but taking a somewhat different stance based on the fact that you yourself are a father. No worries, I think I may have caused some confusion too because many of these guys don't know my real first name, until that post.

I have to disagree with the comment on the founding of our country, and escaping from puritanical religion. If anything, our country was founded by fleeing the religious norm in europe, so they could institute their own form of EVEN MORE puritanical religion and culture.

We are so much more prudish than just about anywhere in the world, the whole time speaking of our "freedom", sure freedom as long as it's not significantly outside the "norms" of respectable society. Watch how fast your opportunities dry up here when your perceived as different.

Don't even get me started on nudity and drug laws here.....
