Only possible if one isn't a smoker. No way one could withstand that long of an aerobic workout whilst smoking.

Why do you think I took up snus? There's no way you can masturbate with a cigarette and your old man in the same hand.....that sh*ts dangerous.

Actually, there might be some concern here. Nicotine is supposed to constricted blood vessels. I have high Hp and have tried to find more info about this but all the studies I can find were in regards to smoking. I am guessing snus might be easier on the circulatory system but I am not 100% sure.

Yeah - I'm starting to get concerned. You're not getting the carbon monoxide but you're still getting nicotine which does give me palps sometimes.....and what with my dad having a heart attack an' all I might just lower my nic intake. I'm even considering stopping. We'll see.

Apparently palps are common, not unusual and not dangerous. They mainly come after consuming large quantities of alcohol......my dad was guilty of that and that's what eventually got him - it took a lifetime for it to catch up though. Despite what others think here, I don't drink that much, most of the time I'll just have two tins of normal strength lager and I'll only do that about 3 times a week. It would be a toughie to come down on the snus nic because Extreme is just delightful. I do think though that if you've been drinking heavily, it's best to lay off on the nicotine the day after as a hangover and nic go hand in hand to put more stress on the heart.

I've read that ones tolerance to nicotine actually protects you from damage. A non-nicotine user who ingests nicotine gets a noticeable increased heart rate and blood pressure. However, for a person who already is addicted to nicotine and have gotten a tolerance, the difference is minimal or very small.

Caffeine though is something worth thinking about, of course in combination with nicotine, if you are worried about blood pressure. I noticed when I'm off coffee that I barely get any effect from nicotine (strong, ES, whatever), but with coffee, my heart rate seems to go up, and the over-all effect of the nicotine seems more noticeable on my system. I'm not sure if that's healthy in the long run (my BPM's are not really high but I can feel my heart beating harder for sure).

I'm sure smoking poses a serious risk for heart attacks and high blood pressure. With snus I am not so sure. I think for someone who is in the risk zone (overweight, lack of exercise, fatty diet etc.), nicotine and caffeine is to be minimized or avoided completely. But for an individual who is not, moderate use of both nicotine and caffeine I think will have little to no effect on the BP (at least to the point where it is dangerous).

Here are some interesting links of the matter.

There was a study that showed heat attacks amongst snus users were more lethal than general population. The chance of heart attack wasn't increased, but you had a higher probability of dying from one.
