This is where you will fail. I'm sorry to say it, but you can't have snus after you quit when having a beer. It's possible in a perfect world, but sadly, it doesn't work (95% of the times). Compare it to a heroin addict who quits after a life long addiction. What would happen if he would shoot up at parties? He might be able to stick to it for a time, but sooner or later he will be where he was before once again.

The major reason nicotine is enjoyable is because it prevents the user from going in to withdrawal. The longer he suffers withdrawal (physical or psycologically) the more enjoyable nicotine is. The exact same (pretty much) applies with opiates (like heroin); I've heard it's not THAT good the first times you try it (the same with nicotine), but what it does is make you go in to withdrawal once you start taking it on a regular basis - and the next dose takes away the withdrawal pains, thus, makes the feeling of getting the drug in your bloodstream wonderful. You can't enjoy nicotine "here and there" if you fully want to quit. It's not doable. Sure you hear people who can do it but that's the exception that makes the rule.

Trust me, it's a stupid idea. I hope you understand what I mean.

I tend to agree also. Recreational use of nicotine is possible, but I think the effort of keeping it recreational would outweigh the benefits of use.

I have a friend who can quit (cigarettes) at the drop of a hat, and not use tobacco for weeks, then get back into it when out on the town. I'm very jealous, but have warned him it might not always be this easy. The brain is very good at rewiring itself when on nicotine :-(

I quit using any tobacco/nicotine products for over a year, and when I decided to use it recreationally again, I started back up using full time within a week or two. I just know that I enjoy snus a heck of a lot, and it would either have to be all or none for me.

                I'm quitting also.

The main thing I hate about snusing is:

Very increased awareness. Not only am I too aware of the annoying people coming and going around me, but I don't have a cigarette to get away from them.

I like snus it gives me confidence, but using it all day long just increases my awareness too much and its stressful to always deal with it!

I kinda don't want to go back to smoking but I feel like I need to go back or just try to lay off nicotine in general.

I feel like snus is definitely medicinal, but I suppose I end up using so much to somehow cope when with cigs I could go outside and cope by physically escaping
To snus or not to snus. That is not the question

                  Snus is very addictive though.

Quitting is easy once you have managed to break the psychological bond that keeps you tied to snus. There is a lot of psychology behind every habit.

I quit for a few months once and substituted the snus with a shitload of coffee (10 cups a day). I felt like shit and went back pretty much straight away to it.

When I quit I noticed my over-all creativity got severely decreased. I enjoy making music and without snus (or nicotine), I could not come up with anything at all.

I phuckin made it an entire 24 hours with only a couple moments of despair. Smoked a whole pack of Winston's but snus was just NOT good for me. Had enjoyable moments but I'm not a dipper ever again. Get way amped up on that stuff. Peace

that's what always happens, with cigarettes too -

simply because tobacco is delicious, especially snus and dip
