That can't be right. Snus makes your mouth fall off; it says so right on the tin. Tell him to check again.

That's right. The FDA put the warning right there on the tin for you ;-)

OK maby i am a bit wrong person to tell you since i work in the snus buisness but this is the truth and personally thing for me.

I went to the dentist first time since i was 19 years (im now 34 years) January 2011.. been snusing since i ws 18 years, so i had not been to the dentist for 15 years and been snusing everyday for 16 years.. I had no hopes that my teeth would be in a great condition!

The doom was 5 small holes and nothing more.. great gum, no misscoloring to the teeth!

the thing is that Snus is sterile (atleast for Gotlandssnus) and a ph in snus at 8.3-8.6 makes the bacteria in a bad envirment since it love a low pH, if the bacteria content in the mouth is high you will also get Karies.. In cola were the pH is low it not as much the suger that makes holes in the teeth it´s the low pH! thats whay dentists recommeds some chewing gums like in Sweden V6 chewing gum (High pH)

I've got dental problems but none due to snus.

Said it before, I had severe anxiety issues in the past and I used to clench my teeth a lot during the night so around 7 teeth were permanently destroyed and pulled them out.

I don't clench anymore thanks God, and the snus or dip hasn't done any damage to my teeth at all.

It's important to brush 3 - 4 times daily though

The only damage I was noticing which was only temporary was from dipping a can a day ... I mean I had all the inside of the lip was white and small bits would peel off

I've heard a guy that was dipping for 22 years and he basically was pulling whole big tissues of skin from his lower lip and had to dip in his upper lip lol

My dentist saw the white patch where I place my snus and asked if I "chewed tobacco". I was honest and told her I used snus, and she said it could possibly turn into a precancerous lesion someday. My objection to her statement: isn't everything on the body precancerous anyway? Every inch of tissue on the body has the potential to become cancerous.

The problem is that your in Sweden. If you where in the US all your teeth would fall out. Says so right on the can.

Anyway, my problem is that I told my dentist I quit smoking and switched to snus, which he didn't have a clue as to what it was. When he figured out it was a smokeless tobacco product he gave me the lecture on how I was gonna die a horrible death and all that baloney. I made the mistake of telling him he was full of it..... so now we don't get along to well.

It really is time to find another dentist but I do get some kind of perverse pleasure out of taunting him. Besides, the women who cleans my teeth is kind of cute. Us old farts have to find pleasure where we can.
