What's so bad about being addicted to snus?

I you intend on hand carrying snus to Canada, you should be fine. The issue is in having snus posted, especially from commercial firms. Shipping from private parties seems to be reliable.

So here's what it looks like

Hand Carrying: Both US and Canada
Ordering: Canada has postage issues, US has PACT
Buying: Canada has almost no snus (I think they have du Maurier in select areas), US has some real snus but with sh*tty false health warnings

I guess ideally either place would work fine. Which means my university choice is not compromised
