Lucky Strike uses smoke flavoring. BAT bought F&L's snus division(they made the snus for BAT before the buy out), so it's Swedish through and through.

I'm not getting worked up i'm just curious Nash. If i wanted fire-cured i'd just put a pouch of rolling tobacco in my mouth.

You people get too damn worked up over the littlest thing...
Really, going from 0.2 ppm to 1.0 ppm compared to other products in the hundreds ppm... Are you honestly that concerned?
That little variance can change from day to day in any product...

Well... safer snus is air-cured right? Hmm, not sure if i would try the Lucky Strike if fire-cured. Though just to be clear it may not be at all.

Usually smoke flavor in snus comes from smoke extract or smoke flavoring if you will. which apparently means peoples like smoke cured flavor but not the repercussions. Just one mans opinion there at the end. I have been wrong before so the whole statement may be blatantly false but un-intentionaly so. If it is please forward all comments to my attorney, you may know him as the Snusdog esq.

Good question Ansel! I am sure that they use smoke flavoring! But fired cured would do the trick too! Darn good snus that one- Fire cured and air cured are part of the equation, Natural fermentation occurs during curing and especially storage. The selection of tobacco and the base TSNA content are all part of the art of snus making, I too would love to know how they do it! I am also sure that as far as the Mega producers are concerned, It's about how cheap a grade they can use and still make something tolerable that still makes the numbers! My 2 cents!
They mainly fire cure burley, I have no idea what it tastes like processed for snus, but as a leaf it is used in some chaw, and I have made snuff, although the fire curing is overpowering. THere is some fascinating reading about the process of selecting tobacco for smokes available! It is a very complex and disturbingly precise intentional process, some what shocking just how much they know about just about every smidgen of what they are doing, for smokes. No wonder the Lawyers had a field day! I know that the big boys have some big toys! Lots of PHD level talks going on! Tobacco is a very studied and lucrative science!

I dunno if I'm a little late to the party or not to chime in on this thread, but I've viewed the TSNA reports from GN's products, and their on par with Swedish Match, which uses steam pasteurization.
If you're worried about the TSNA levels rising after purchase/storage, purchase in smaller batches.
But I can assure you, what I've seen of GN's heat method carries the same level on average with steam pasteurized products, like Swedish Match and others, for example.
Use GN products without fear.
