Does anyone have any experience with fasting. I'm planning on water fasting for two weeks to try and alleviate some swelling in my ankle. I sprained it badly three times in the last year playing soccer. Should I refrain from snusing? I'm betting half of my dreams will consist of eating chicken francese, snusing thunder coola, and banging emma watson at the same time.

I suppose fasting means detoxification, therefore you WILL have to avoid using snus as well. (but it's up to you)
can you actually live on water alone? I mean you will feel so damn week without food... hmmm I'll have to look this up myself, i've been looking for ages for a detox program......

I imagine it would be difficult to recover from an injury while depriving the body of vital nutrients. Good luck, but I don't recommend it...especially for the reason you cited. If you were not injured, I'd say go for it....but hey, it's your ankle. Let us know how it turns out, I'm curious. Good luck again, I think you're going to need it

My ankle is technically healed, the last sprain was a two months ago but i have persistent swelling. My reasoning is after the body consumes all its fat its starts to absorb non-essential material such as cysts and hopefully the fluid in my ankle. and yea precious people have water fasted for months at a time for detoxification purposes.

Oh yeah, I only listened to half of your post :P. Well if you think you need to do it then go ahead. Keep in mind I havent had any snus for about a week now because I ran out of money and it has taken its toll on me. I should be recieving some on wednesday but It's basically all I can think about.

water only for 2 weeks? Wow, that's discipline. My hat's off to you for being able to do that but I'd agree with the lack of nutrients being a problem. Have you tried any anti-inflammatory herbs? I think fenugreek is good for that. I know it regulates blood sugar and cholesterol as well as benefiting the cardiovascular system as a whole. Neem is supposed to be pretty good for joint inflammation too. I think, for me at least, it would be easier to try that route before the fasting. At any rate...keep us posted.

I fasted once...worst six hours of my life.....
Just kidding. If you have not ever fasted I suggest a raw food and fruit juice fast for your first time. Raw fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds and only 100% fruit juices and vegetable juices.
A water only fast is much more difficult. The first three days are the hardest as the body begins to detox and the brain thinks you are starving. Light headedness and confusion are usually side effects. After that though the feeling subsides and a feeling of wellness creeps in. Just don't let anyone cook bacon around you. I broke three fasts because of bacon....sweet delicious bacon. Mmmmmmmmm. If you have never done one of these, consider only doing four days max the first time. Fasting is something not to jump straight into. It takes practice and mental preparedness otherwise you can set yourself up for failure and make it seem harder than it is.
If you have experience in fasting...go for it.
I haven't really done a fast in a couple of years...since I quit smoking. This thread has inspired me and I will start a raw food fast this coming week combined with a fiber suppliment to "clean out the foulness of of the bowel and promote cleanliness of mind".
Keep us posted on your progress.

just my 2 cents on this, if you are insistent about doing this you may want to hold on the snus considering it does have salt in it, not sure if the levels of salt in snus are enough to attribute to water retention, but if it is then that negates the reasoning behind a flush would it not?
