    Nicotine and our furry friends

I am visiting my friends in Tampa, FL for the weekend. I brought a can of OR Cran Strong, and a can of General Los. When we went to the bar last night, I tossed my can of portions in the fridge and ran w/ my General (I tend to loose t all the time). When we got home from the bar, the can of portions was gone (we think that it fell when someone at the house opened the door). We have searched high and low, but the can has not resurfaced.

I can only hope that the cat isnt smart enough to open the can. If it is, I hope that the smell is not appealing.

Is there a telltale bulge in his upper lip?

Is he looking a little more self satisfied that he usually does?

EDIT: I wouldnt worry too much about it. I cant imagine that the cat wouldnt be put off by the initial burn, even if the can had gotten open somehow.

Another forum I frequent mentioned that cats in particular LOVE the taste of nicotine. Ex-cigarette smokers using it in liquid form to refill cartridges for e-smoking devices say a cat will lick the liquid off fingers as if it were catnip. Nicotine is deadly poisonous at even very low levels for dogs or cats (it's an INSECTICIDE in near pure form). Here's hoping your friend's cat didn't become a snuser for his last moments on earth. The stuff must always be kept out of reach of animals.

The can resurfaced. The cat did not get it afterall. Friends husband accidentally knocked it down a shelf and it landed inside a 12-pack box. Was found about 20 min ago when the kid went to grab a can of sprite.

        The cats are safe

          Phew. Happy ending.

That's one of nine lives used up, however. Not yours; the cat's.

I just about hit the floor when I read this and imagined my german shepherd with a wad in his lip sitting on the couch in a relaxed state!

            Thanks for the laugh!

An old trick we use on our german shepherds is to use a pinch of chewing tobacco to cure worms and other digestive problems.

You take a pinch and shove it down their throat and then give them some raw meat. In no time they will shit like there is no tomorrow and will pass the worms or other parasites out of their system...

Not sure what cats will do but they seem to be a little tougher than dogs as far as eating nasty rotten stuff.

If the cat's not dead, he just had one hell of a buzzzzzzzzzzz!
