    venting

    Hi all

Not sure this is the right forum for this but I need to vent. Tomorrow is my day to switch to snus 100%. I'm looking forward to it and can't wait. I thought it would be an easy transition and it might be. What happened today though has thrown me for a loop. My daughter whom I haven't seen in 6 years showed up at my work place, this was cool. She needed money, okay. Her mother is driving her crazy as she still lives with her. Now this "child" is 35 but mom has got her paying most of her bills (I pay the friggin' mortgage) Any ways to shorten this up, she may want to move in with me. Gosh I just got rid of my wife's kids cheeeeeeeeeeeeez. My problem, she smokes but she is my kid. I hope this allows me to move completely to snus and not fall back.

    Thanks for listening
    Tim

Make her smoke outside, then convert her to snus. If not just for the money savings, It'll be cold in Illinois soon enough. One of the best things about snussin is not having to freeze my balls off for some nicotine.

I work in the restaurant business, so I'm around smokers all the time. I just tell 'em about Snus. Keep the faith and will power, brother!

You can designate your home non-smoking. And make sure she understands that, and agrees, before allowing her to move in. And show her alternatives to smoking. Plus, she can go on the porch if she must.

Just tell her if she wants to smoke she has to go outside, and show her the side of SNUS! The great gift!

I will second all the sentiments that you should make her smoke outside. People should do that anyway. Good luck and do everything you can to avoid those cigs, but I wouldn't make a big deal out of it if you slip up and have one. Its a marathon, as they say.

I hope everything works out great! Let us know and vent all you want.

Since I quit smoking with snus, I haven't had any problems being around smokers. If I want to smoke cigs I can, I just actually don't want to. You'll get there, don't worry about it.

                This goes for me too.

My in-laws smoke and the first time we went to their house after I'd switched 100% to snus, I was afraid I'd cave and have a cig.

But when they went out to smoke I just popped in a portion and went with them. No problem.

so far all is going well. and everyone here is right, she can smoke outside if she needs to smoke. As of yet she hasn't moved yet, I just had a momentary panic thinking about it. I do have couple of questions, how long does it take for the nicotine in the snus to kick in? Seemed like a long time to me. And sonce I have several different brands of snus open, how long does it keep? does it go bad? I'm storing it in the fridge.THE SNUS IS LOOSE!!!!!!

I keep open cans in the fridge for many weeks, no problem. Sealed tins go in the freezer for over a year with no problems.

It does take a while for the nic to kick in with snus. Depends on how hard you pack it. Mine tend to peak between 15-30 minutes and I leave it in for about an hour. If you are fighting urges to smoke, you might want to put a snus in before you need it. That way it's already kicked in before the urge hits. After snusing for a couple weeks, you will have more faith in the nicotine delivery and just putting it in should instantly calm you.

Glad it's going well so far!

well so far so good. no real urge to smoke although the thought does come to mind. I don't feel bad just different. This must be what it's like getting oxygen in my blood stream instead of all that poison. I keep reminding my self that even though I'm getting nicotine I'm still withdrawing from 3,999 other chemicals that smoke provides.

the cool thing is when you have a cig after several months it's just gonna taste gross. Snus is soooo much better tasting IMO.

If my wife is smoking a cig, lately I'll have one or three with her but my mouth tastes like crap for 24 hours or so. I want to just shovel in a tablespoon of los in the morning after. Don't sweat it, man. you'll be fine. The snus always wins in the end.

@ Chad. What do you do in the restaurant business? I have a long history in it myself though I've been out for seven years...
