But, if I'm not mistaken it will eventually head up the east coast and further into the greater Atlantic.

The underwater plumes will stay subsurface and float around with the currents, untill eventually a hurricane throws it all out into the sky. It won't affect drinking water though, (we are talking a single drop of oil per trillion gallons of water, the ocean is HUGE).

Tar balls aren't really a big deal, IMO. There were natural tar balls on the beach (from seeps) in Biloxi in the early 90's (my only experience with the gulf). They didn't seem to bother any one then.

I mean, you looked around before you sat down, but you didn't bring a hazmat suit to the beach or anything crazy.

"it's all aboard the failboat for us"

It is at least until the relief wells are completed. The real fail will be if the O. admin, in full never-let-a-crisis-go-to-waste mode, manages to ram a cap-and-trade bill through congress. If that happens then all of us will be in full BOHICA mode regarding energy prices. One can only hope that declining poll numbers and fear of Dem. electoral armageddon will blunt the effort.

You know what's hilarious? How amazingly predictable this whole thing is. I mean all last week they were going on and on about how the leak could be stopped by monday. Monday comes and they say it may be delayed and take till wednesday. Wednesday comes and now they're saying that they shut down for 48 hours and it'll take longer.

Cummon people, we walked a man on the farking moon for God's sake, IN THE 70'S!!!! Is this really something that cannot be fixed in less than a year?

Yeah, the gulf always has a little oil in it. We see whats happening here because of the explosion.
How many minor leaks are out there?

There is so much good weed in the bay area. I love it here.
I am sorry for all the hell that is breaking loose down in the gulf. What a shame.

The BP team is just too burnt out from trying to fix this thing that they are always taking these long breaks in-between attempts.
Maybe if our leaders would of created a international team in the begining working around the clock there might of been some progress on all fronts. This corexit crap is also very controversial with cleanup crews getting sick without knowing the dangers.
