Cleansed of Islam is probably not the best terminology.

Leave it up to this forum to take a thread about illegal Mexicans working at Sizzler and bring it down to talking about "Muslim cleansing". That line of thinking, regardless of it's irrelevance to the topic at hand, is reckless and wholely ignorant and dangerous to the situation at hand in those two countries. I would expect more from a guy who has at least to some degree studied world religions, if by that one means being a former Hare Krishna and having read a few Buddhist sutras. I don't mean to call anyone out in particular, but by now it should be expected from me when using such stupid and dangerous terms. If you think it's as easy as saying "hey, you're free now, you don't have to be Muslim" and "cleansing" those who stand by their 1500-year-old lineage, tribal allegiances, and very strong personal and religious convictions... Shit. I'm at a loss for you fckrs. Thank god you're not calling the shots.

Your right, and cleansing is never a good idea. But it would be nice if some of them could wake up one day with the freedom to say "I don't have to be muslim". For a woman to grow up knowing she has the freedom to take a job, maybe as a ceo. That she may find a personal life path that doesn't include beating or just being a seen-but-not-heard baby making machine.

We should not force our version of "civilization" on anyone, so I don't agree with bringing democracy anywhere it's not welcome, but it would be nice for people to be able to have a choice in life instead of being forced at gunpoint to be a slave.

Many of these countries right now are the equivalent of having hard core fundamentalist christians or Amish running the state, many of them are not the moderate muslims we find in America and abroad, but instead the hardcore fundi's. Imagine a country ran wholly by the amish or by fundamentalist christians, where you are killed if you cut your beard a certain way or if you are female and want to be educated.

You are fighting for the moderates, but you should know Roo that it is not the moderates who are the problem here, and you should know that it's not the moderates that are slowly spreading across the globe murdering people for their religion. Just as the crusades have brought even moderate christians a bad name, so to are these extremists bringing a bad name upon all of Islam, so don't be surprised when people make blanket comments. People have been doing it to christians since the crusades.

The so-called moderates are trying to watch the World Cup in secret, because if caught, they may be killed. If they decide they don't want to be Muslim, their family may kill them. If their daughter wears blue jeans, the village may kill her, same if she is raped. If we can't free these people from Islam, which we won't even try, then we need to just get out of Iraq and Afganistan now. Islam is not like any other religion, because it's really not a "religion", it's an imposed oppresive exclusionist theocracy, it's more a fanatical political system than a personal faith. And while there are moderate practitioners, many, if not most of them, even if they themselves are not radical, agree with the radical Sharia Islamic state idea. You can't compare Islam with other religions, because Islam does not believe in freedom of faith, especially for Muslims, and while some nations tolerate others, many nations do not. If you are a Muslim, in a Muslim nation, you do not have the freedom to renouce your religion and choose another, if you do, you are setting yourself up to be killed.

I still say, Empower the Women and you will thin the herd. You will eventually get a 50 percent divorce rate and possibly no marriage at all because careers will become more important then children.
This means less kids which also means less of a strain on resources and less wars for land grabs.
