Bourbon drinker here, although I like a good Irish every now and then. Preferred brands:

Bourbon: Maker's Mark or Woodford Reserve

      Irish: Old Bushmills

Give Dewars 12 a try. You know for the price you can't beat it.

I forgot about Dewars 12. It is good, but not common in bars around here. For a value bottle, I like Famous Grouse. I don't think it's touchable in it's price range. Very nice to drink straight, and you don't want to choke the shit out of someone when you see them mixing it with something stupid :^D

Ugh, I can't drink Jameson. Some of the higher end blends are good, but the standard bottle just tastes like alcohol to me.

Got a bottle of this crap.

Syrupy garbage. Guy at the liquor store lied to my ass on this one. I would not recommend to any whiskey lover. It is bearable mixed with tonic water as the aspirin flavor of the tonic helps tame the sweetness.

Surprisingly it wakes up dried out loose Ettan and makes it taste SUBLIME!!

It is hard to pick just one but I tend to favour Islay's such as Ardbeg, Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Caol Ila so I will always have at least one or all of them in the house.

Highland Park 12 & 18 year are also always present in my collection.

Out of the Central Highlands my current pick is Ebradour

For the Scottish Islands I would have to say Isle of Jura Prophecy and the Isle of Jura 18 year old are my favourites. The Ledaig 1990 (another peaty whisky) from the Isle of Mull also makes a showing from time to time. The Arran Malt from Isle of Arran is a nice diversion from the usual peaty whiskys

Cambeltown is a new one I am just starting to explore and I enjoy Springbank, Longrow CV and Hazelburn (haven't picked a favourite yet)

For Speyside it has to be The Glenrothes 1985 (pricey but worth it)

Japanese whiskys are new to me but Nikka from the Barrel is impressive.

I also have a bottle of Bowmore 15 year old / Mariner but I don't enjoy it as much as the other Islay's for some reason.

When it comes to blended whisky I always go for Bailie Nicole Jarvie (mainly Glenmorangie and Glen Moray) and Famous Grouse.

I don't really drink bourbon (which to me is very different from Scottish whisky) but Blanton's Special Reserve is not bad at all.

The only whisky I like is Bushmills on very rare occasions. I've never been schooled in whisky so there is probably one out there that I'll like, I just never found it. I'm not a big fan of peat.

As for American Bourbon and whiskey, I'll drink any of them without complaint. I dig the Knob Creek, Booker's, JD/JD single barrel (but not so much the Gentleman Jack), Old Whiskey River, Bulleit and occasionally Van Winkle Rye.

I recently just finished off my first bottle of Jameson's....I enjoyed it quite a bit too. I love Scotch, but not always. I have a bottle of Glenfiddich 12 that is almost 13 now, lol. I live in bourbon country and my go to bourbon is Woodford Reserve, in a pinch Jim Beam 7yr. I almost always take my drinks neat because I don't like my liquor watered down and I enjoy being able to taste it.

I'm a big fan of Glenmorangie's 10 yr which is very complex despite the age and price. Love Oban, Lagavulin, Laphroig 10 yr (another great value) and Macallan. There's many more but that's what's in the cabinet at the moment. I do love bourbon too, especially Booker's, but like lx it doesn't always sit well.

I have to admit I'd love a bottle of this if it were still available:
