It's good to see a nice amount of baseball fans here.

Don't know if anyone caught the Braves vs Phillies game tonight, all Philadelphia until the bottom of the 9th with two outs. The braves got back to back home runs to tie the game and 3 and then won the game with a home run in the 10th inning.

Didn't see that coming myself, but i'm not complaining

Hey look! Three of the apparently predominate interests on this forum come together: MLB, smokeless tobacco, and a relative understanding that congress is wasting our time and money.

Unfortunately... I did see it coming. Our bullpen needs to get its act together. I wanted Kendrick to finish off the 9th simply for the fact that I don't trust the BP... after last year's closing woes I've been burned and don't trust anyone in that bullpen to close out a game anymore...even Lidge when he comes back.

The Phillies are such an interesting team to follow---you don't know what to make of them when they're made up of the following 1) awesomely clutch and powerful offense 2) best? pitcher in the league followed by a has-been ace that could still be an ace if he tried 3) pitching mediocrity at the bottom of the rotation, 4) an inconsistent bullpen that has trouble closing out games. What a mix.

Should make for an interesting season

Yet another Cardinals fan here...back since the early 70's, spending afternoons/evenings listening to Jack Buck and Mike Shannon on the radio.

Yeah, you guys traded for my first favorite player from the Braves, Joe Torre. If Orlando Cepeda didn't have a cool nickname, Baby Bull, I might never have gotten over the trade.

If the Sox were ever to vanish the Cards would be my team, for a couple of reasons. First and foremost they give the cubs terrible fits, Second proximity to Illinois, thirdly Tony Larussa. That is all. Except i'm an American league kinda guy, but I'd adjust....
