was chain smoking for 38 years, haven't had a cig in about 40 days now thanks to the greatness of swedish snus. man 'o man, saw mamafish's post so did a very conservative estimate of how much i've spent on cigs. over $75,000. man 'o man...

Snus is like having a IV drip of nicotine as compared to cigs, which is probably why I prefer it. I don't smoke any more for that reason.

I can't get past not having my morning smokes (2-3) with my coffee (I am hoping that the sterks I ordered will be the cure for that though) and my 1 smoke before bed. If I snus right up to bedtime, I get insomnia. I gotta stop snusing a half hour before bed, smoke a cigarette, and I fall right to sleep.

Another part of the day that is tough for me is the last couple of hours before I get off work.

I have smoked about 25 cigs a day for the last 33 years... and even though I am still smoking today, I am sure that I will find what works for me with snus so I can get past my morning smokes. Once I can do that, I will never buy smokes again.

I can breath so easily now (now that I am only smoking 4 or 5 a day)after 2 months of snus that I almost have to re-learn how to breathe normally. While smoking, I would never think of taking a deep breath even when yawning. It would hurt my lungs.
Now I can breathe deep... even though it feels a bit weird. :-)
Now I can smell things much better than I could before.
Now I don't stink up my small office for my teammates every 40 minutes when I return from having a quick smoke.
Now I don't care if the meeting that I am in lasts more than an hour... or even two.
Now I don't care if my flight is 4 hours.
Now my daughters don't shy away from me because I reek of tobacco.
Now I can ride bikes with my kids and not get winded. Heh... I even chased down the ice cream truck the other day. :-)
Now I am not spending nowhere near as much on nicotine as I was before.
Now I don't need to feel embarrassed for lighting up in public.
Now I can go to baseball games and sit through the whole game without trying to find a smoking section.
Now my car doesn't stink link an ashtray.
Now I think I could ultimately quit nicotine altogether someday.

        And now...

Now I hear the government is going to take that all away from me or at least make it much more difficult.

I haven't quite quit yet, but I've been snusing for less than a week. I have cut back by at least 75% already, and I'm looking forward to quitting altogether.

Now, what am I going to do with all that money I'll be saving?
I know!! I know!! Pay more taxes on everything else. :x
