C'mon dude. So Americans are ruining the forum... Are we talking about a few bad apples, or are we talking about apples? If there were only a few douchebag Germans spouting off on a forum frequented by a LOT of Germans, and I said "Germans are ruining this forum", your response would be... ?

Help me out here. What kind of reaction are you trying to get from a statement like that?

I won't get into ruining the forum, or anything like that, as even legitimate political discussion ends up being a mess :^D

I agree with chainsnuser. Europeans generally have a broader view of politics, and are better educated in other country's systems. Sure there's idiots everywhere, but I think Americans tend to not allow that as a hindrance to getting into discussions :^D

You may or may not have noticed that I don't get into the political threads much. That's because I'm not qualified to speak about most topics. Political and social problems can't be distilled down to a poll, or a couple of paragraphs. Whole books have been written describing social change, and even they're incomplete. Everything's too intertwined to separate any 1 or 2 facets.

I think everybody knows what happens when when political threads get started. If one's too sensitive to take them on, it's best to just not go in. There's enough topics to go around, so nobody should feel that they have to get involved in political debate :^)

I don't typically get involved with the political threads either, lxzkllr, for the same reasons. I chose to get involved here because I thought it was necessary to address the intolerant and asinine ways in which some here have been conducting themsleves, by either attacking other members, making racist statements, or singling out nationalities to be held accountable for the actions of a few.

All with intent of keeping this forum fun, informative, funny, and interesting, like it was when I got here and for the most part still is, thanks to the contributions of people like you and almost everyone else. I am simply opposed to snuson.com becoming a medium for spouting off on each other and saying the type of stupid, racist shit that popped up in the politics thread to begin with.

I am not too sensitive to be exposed to Eurocentric or even outright racist points of view. I have lived in chainsnuser's country and a few others, and am well aware of how Americans are generally perceived in many parts of the world, and the many degrees to which those perceptions vary depending on the foreign individual's personal experience. Some of it is warranted, much of it is not -- just like any other generalization about any specific nationality.

Whatever the case, I hope this forum continues to be enjoyable and informative, regardless of the topic. If everyone is even remotely civil with each other, I will continue to be intrigued and enriched by all of the different opinions and points-of-view with regard to all topics on this forum, politics most certainly included!

Nuff said. Let's just be friends again. But some threads here simply should be deleted. A German webmaster would risk to end in jail by allowing some of the abominations that have been said here. I don't know how it is in Finland. No matter, I really believe that there should be limits to the freedom of speech.

I really don't want to get involved in the aforementioned thread, or this one for that matter ... but what i do want to say is as of this post SnusOn.com has 1479 registered users ... of those said users about 18 users involved in that thread and a number of those users weren't in the main topic of that thread. I'd hate to see all 1479 users getting labeled as what ever someone is going to label us based on what a handful of users has to say. On that note i'd like to thank everyone who has made this forum great and there's a reason i keep coming back. (even if i don't post a lot, i'm here lurking)

I don't see why there's only two or three of us speaking out against that shit, but for me, it's over. Not trying to be bitter or harsh, just trying to point out the reality of the fact. I agree that there has been some stuff that shouldn't happen and people have been degrading the usefullness of the forum. IMHO people need to take what others say with a grain of salt, process it, and if they don't like it throw it out. If you feel the urge to disagree with what someone else says, do it in a constructive manner and try and stay away from the personal racial/sexist/etc... slurs and comments.

I just seriously take offense to anti-semitism, and in the heat of the moment decided I didn't want to be a part of the forum anymore if that's the way people here think. I've received fifteen PM's since then, all favorable to my opinion and thanking me for speaking up against what I spoke up about. It wasn't a "nah nah nah nah I'm leaving!" kind of thing, I was just fed up and trying to point out to anyone who hadn't had a chance to read the thread in question some of the things that were being said on it. I accomplished what I set out to do, and I make no apology for it. I'm sorry if my "shenanigans" are more offensive to you than the hating of Jews.

No one "begged" me to stay, but a number of people helpfully pointed out that I shouldn't let a few petty morons steer me away from what is otherwise a decent forum. (Besides, I've checked out some of the other snus forums and don't see any reason to join I can take political idiocy any day, but I draw the line at fragrant racism as I think anyone with half a brain should, and I still feel that anyone behind the scenes at snuson should take a more active stance when that type of garbage is put forward so as to distance themselves from that type of mindset. As someone earlier pointed out- even if it's "only" three boneheads that are poisoning the forum, I don't ever want to be associated with those members, and if it means leaving this forum than so be it. Thankfully, the other 99% of the membership have spoken up and have indicated that the majority of this forum doesn't think that way, and if we had an ignore option then no one would have to be subjected to inbred mentality.

Again, if you think that this whole thing was just "politics as usual", then you seriously weren't paying attention. I don't think the thread should be deleted, but at the very least a mod should post something to the effect of "this is stupid, and we at snuson don't condone it". Look at it this way- if you ran a bar or pub, and it catered to a pretty broad crowd, then you start getting one group of neo-nazi skinheads that want to run off other members or openly state their racist agendas; wouldn't you be worried that someone coming off the streets to your bar would maybe get the impression that you openly condone racism and are, in effect, running a skinhead bar? So in order to appear "heroic" or "noble" you constantly interject into any opportunity you can that you are a US soldier, and that you risk your life day in and day out for little pay and even less recognition. My comment wasn't a personal dig just to clarify, more of a statement about the overtone of this whole portion of the forums as of late. The maturity level has been lacking (again, not only yours in particular, but the forum's as a whole). There have been multiple instances of things like this occurring lately. Not just political rants, but a lot of people pushing/forcing their personal opinions. I am not saying people should not be able to publicly express their opinions, just saying it should be done in a constructive, rather than destructive, manner. This is much akin to the "I'm a new snuser, but never smoked" thing that happened in the other sub-forum. If I had just walked into the forums to post my hello's and trying to get more information and was bombarded I don't think I would keep posting here. I personally would just like to be a part of a community that is welcoming and interested in the facts, not just smearing their personal opinions/slurs in every single thread for everyone to see (not just a reference to the other topic). However, this is not the vast majority of folks IMHO, it just seems to be this way as of late because the people who aren't like that have taken a back seat to that type of action and don't want to be a part of it.

I love the informative quality this forum has to it, and it's users passion for the topic at hand. Don't get me wrong, not everything in life is about snus and the boards should reflect discussion outside of that. But don't let this forum succumb to a level that is not becoming of it.
