Well I just ran across this video. It really made me wonder about Palin the VP nonimee. Theres going to be alot of crap comming out about her. This is just the beginning. Just about anyone that loves animals will have second thoughts about voting for her. Isn't that almost all Americans?

Wow doing it from a plane is over the top. Kinda hard to defend.

Though if you were trying to make a living with a herd of domesticated animals you probably wouldn't want too many wolves around.

I'm sure rarely a wolf attacks a person too.

Ultimately we didn't get to the top of the food chain without a little bloodshed, but there should be a point where you don't need to go out of your way, ie, fly a plane out in the Alaskan wilderness to cull a pack of wolves that most likely aren't interfering with humans.

Regardless, I'm a hunter and an internet skeptic. I'd need a little more convincing than a you tube video before I made an opinion on anything.

Obama supports, shoving metal instruments into unborn baby heads. Hunting is hunting, regardless from the air or ground.

What people do not mention is. A certain number of all predator species are set aside for hunting. This is to protect the numbers of deer, elk, and caribu.

Wolves in particular are hunted also to keep thier pack numbers down. Once a pack reaches over 15 wolves it is hard for it to support itself.

If the state is also offering a $150.00 bounty, the means they are over populated. The state of TN did the same thing some years back on coyotes.

I realize some critters have to be culled for various reasons. HOWEVER.....kill em quickly. Why the **** are they useing shotguns. Geez. At least make a sport out of it. Sell tags and "hunt" the wolves if they need to be culled. Use a 30-06 or a 3030. Use any weapon that will kill quicker than a freakin shotgun.

I've seen a similar video where goats had taken over some part of Australia and were spreading like rabbits, which are also a problem in Australia.

Anyway these dudes were "culling" these goats from a helicopter. It was bad ass. Sure killing is shocking, but sometimes hard decisions have to be made for the better good.

It is true. I have read up it. And it sucks to see or think about it. However, to be fair, ins't a decision by Department of Natural Resources? DNR pulls stuff like this in all states, but there is just something that is so upsetting about seeing it happen to wolves just to protect the hunting industry. To be honest, I didn’t watch the whole video. Does Palin personally kill wolves from a plane? And yeah, make it a clean kill. Another thing to point out is that her husband is an Indian, so the pic with the family dressed in fur isn’t so disturbing to me.


This isn't a make or break isssue for me in terms of voting, but I can see how this stuff could be for others.

I have been around some of the best marksmen in the world. They would have a problem killing a wolf from a airpalne with a rifle. Get in the back of a pickup truck. Get it to 80 mph and try to shoot a target. It is harder than it sounds.

Buckshot from a 12 ga. is 10-15, 32 caliber projectiles. Versus one 30 caliber projectile from a 30-30 or a 30-.06. The wolf will be a bit messy, but it will die more quickly from the buckshot.

oh yea I realise that. I guess the combination of useing a plane AND a shot gun is what gets to me. Like I said..........sell tags, regulate culling, and hunt them on foot [or even snowmobile or atv] so they can use a rifle, thats all. Most would go down with one carefully placed slug.


Actually I don't care that much about it. Because, I'm sure there are probably several good reasons why they hunt the wolves like that. And when theres a job to do it needs to be done one way or another. But I would think theres a better way to cull those wolves.

My concern was for the many Americas that will see that video and totally not understand. How will that affect the vote.

This is a just a guess. I'd the plane has to do with vastness of the Alaskan wilderness.

You do realize that a slower moving projectile will kill just as quickly as fast moving one. In some cases at certain ranges they will kill quicker, due to the mushrooming effect.

Wasting airplane fuel to shoot dogs isn't a good use of resources. A leather jacket will stop buckshot at a not too distant range.

Yea Alaska is a big place. They can't be hoofin it. After thinking about it I'd say that a hunt on snowmobie or ATV would probably be a very long one. So, efficiancy is probably the reason they hunt this way. But the spread on a 12 guage at 150' to 250' or more is tremendous and doesn't have much "quick killing" power left at that distance.

Their fur must be useful, I'm against fur farms and the like, but if something has to be culled it seems a shame to let it go to waste. I would have thought a rifle with a scope would be the best way to get a clean kill. But I suppose getting to remote areas is a problem.
