Asparame is horrible... I like coffee but I definitely agree that it gives me a crash mid day

i recommend drinking a ton of water and when you get a headache going for a run

You dont have to cut out sweetners completely, just avoide aspartame as thats said to be the nasty stuff. Look for things made with stevia or use stevia sweetener in your food and drinks. Its becoming pretty popular now due to the recent uproar about aspartame even though the effects have been known for a number of years...

Well I enjoy a bulletproof coffee in the morning -1/ 500ml coffee from beans ground myself 2/ add 80g unsalted grass-fed butter and 3/ 30g coconut oil. Blend it and you have a BPC :-) keeps me going for 6+ hours. And I've lost a stone in weight by drinking it (and following a low-carb high fat paleo diet). Oh and for the haters, my biomarkers from bloods are optimal :-)

And I drink tea by the bucketload, and always add stevia, a NATURAL zero-calorie sweetener :-)

                      Caffeine does not enhance performance!

It simply keeps you awake and more alert

I have been in a similar position as you. Quit, take a long break. If you ever feel like getting back into it, go for green tea. Much smoother caffiene buzz, and very small. Coffee I go up and down. With green tea, I have 3 cups and that leaves me a moderate energy levels all day. Some mornings I take 50 mg's caffiene
I used to have 100mg caffiene pill in the morn as well as 9-10 cups of coffee a day

I'm 2 weeks into a ketogenic diet myself and am already down about 12 lbs and feeling better. I'll have to give that bulletproof coffee a try.

Agree with the stevia, it's good stuff.

I switched to white peony and love it. I was drinking pots of coffee everyday and switched to white tea to minimize it a bit. I still have a cup of coffee once or twice a week but I prefer white tea over coffee usually. I am not really a fan of green or black tea but I do like Tazo Joy in the morning.
