You may want to try Passion Flower tea but like all these things, do the research first!

With a bit of alcohol, I wouldn't worry too much. The Polynesians have been drinking kava with rum in all night sessions for ages, and they seem to be getting on pretty well. Over time, probably not the best idea. Still, a shot of rum with some kava probably isn't going to be what kills you. Obviously, watch out if you have pre-existing liver problems, but if that's the case, good luck finding a sleeping pill that won't mess with your liver.

    interesting topic. my notes:

valerian: never did anything for me. even high dose. may try a different brand.

kava: intoxicating. sedative. relieves muscle tension aches. get the whole powdered root, not the supplement pills or pharmacy junk. many varieties will drag you down the next day. NOT WITH ALCOHOL. it will not damage your liver when taken alone, but can do serious damage with alcohol.

melatonin: knocks me out at about 5mg. strong snus potentiates the effect. you can now get beverages (tea or soda) with melatonin in them.

theanine: i've been interested in trying this. what dosage do you take. would you recommend?

The doses that are in Nurofen plus are extremely difficult to become addicted to, which is why it's sold over the counter. The codeine content is very small. You would need to extract the codeine from thousands of these tablets to obtain a consistent dosage to become addicted.

There is a slight buildup of tolerance, but you eventually hit a plateau at what (I assume) is your ideal dose. It's not anywhere near the tolerance problem one can develop with prescription sleep meds, however.

I'm well, thanks for asking. Throughout this year I've been busy adjusting to a new position at work (which I like better than the old one, even though the transfer was not my idea), as well as trying to furnish a new apartment, but it's all good.

We cannot get the latest and greatest because we need to wait for the marketing team to get all the new flashy ads, commercials etc.. together.
Well, and grease the FDA with money of course.

Forgive me, because I don't mean to be inflammatory or anything - but WTF America. You can bear arms but you can't get something as pussy and harmless as Phenergan (not talking about Phenergan with codeine) over the counter. Gob smackingly unbelievable. They put it in childrens night time cough medicine here ffs.

    Is it me?

I'm still trying to find something that'll put me out that I won't rapidly build up a tolerance to. Last time I went to my doctor, he put me on Ambien, told me to start with half a pill, and work my way up until I found a dosage that would put me to sleep within an hour. We gave up on it after I told him I was up to 8 a night, was still not falling asleep, and just being really out of it during the day. Now I just stay up until I pass out. It's easier than dealing with all the pills and crap.

Kava Kava can cause kidney problems too though so i wouldn't take too much of it.

I've got some promethazine/codein syrup right now for my bronchitis. It works pretty well with helping you sleep but it's on the drug schedule over here so it's pretty hard to get unless your legitimately sicka dn go to a Dr etc.
