It's not Promethazine they get high off. In the south, codeine syrup with promethazine in it is used as a recreational drug. The promethazine is included in order to offset some of the negative side effects of codeine when it's intended to be used regularly. That way, people who are assigned a course of the syrup when they're sick aren't constantly constipated and such. As far as I know, promethazine has no recreational value, and I've never heard of such use of promethazine except in combination with codeine.

You could try Kava kava, Eric. Don't know how well it'll work for you, but it knocks some people out. I'd love to find a sleeping pill or tea that worked to put me out.

We can get Ibruprofen with codeine over the counter here and if you've got a hangover it's heaven an hour after taking these. Codeine is gooooood.

I've taken Valerian for about 6 months off and on to help with issues getting to sleep. I've found that the best cocktail for me is actually 900mg Valerian in capsule form with 3mg Melatonin. I'll usually take the valerian root about 90 minutes before I want to fall asleep and then the melatonin about 30 minutes before bed. Prepare for vivid dreams and slight grogginess the next morning, but this will usually help me fall asleep within about 20-30 minutes.

I recently got a prescription for 50mg Trazadone from the doc. One of these will have me feeling pretty tired within about 30 minutes. The best thing is it is non-habit forming.

It has the Diphenhydramine HCL I was talking about earlier. It's a lot cheaper in the US if you buy it as "allergy relief" vs a sleep aid. Just the words sleep aid add 2 or 3 bucks when it's the same ingredient lol.

I used a product called rollover for the first time last night. It has a proprietary blend of some stuff most notable being 5-HTP and L-tryptophan. I didn't go to sleep much faster than usual, but felt incredibly rested after only 5 hours of sleep.

This is my trick aswell.. Well sadly they've raised the legal buying age for hard liquors so I don't have that much no more.
And if you feel a bit classy a glass of gin(a double of course) & tonic also does the trick for me

I drink a big spoon of this on the nights I dont use alcohol which is most of the workweek and wake up without any drugged out feeling.
This stuff does the trick for me in many ways because my body is always telling signs of Mag deficiency. Fluttering muscles, spasms, sore tendons.

snus keeps me awake - so take it out a while before bed!

If I lie down with snus in, I'll fall asleep - get weird dreams etc. but I don't like doing it just in case I inhale it.
