    Any fellow couponers?

As some as you know I had to move a couple years ago to San Antonio because I lost my job in the Gulf Shores area of Alabama. I worked for the company for about 5 years. We did marketing for a resort. When the economy fell we lost alot of business so the office was shut down. I actually made it to head manager top dog for a few months. Fast forward to now I'm making about 1/3 of what I made then. So times are different. I'm basicly living paycheck to paycheck.

So now what my wife and I have been doing is couponing. Which has been reaping benefits in our budget. Take for example Purex. There was a coupon for I believe it was a dollar off. Now it didn't say we couldn't use it on trial size. We got samplers that had two sheets, you know the ones that have the detergent, fabric softner built in for free. She had about 10 coupons so that's 20 loads of laundry for free. We got a dollar off raid coupon so we used it on 90 cent fly strips so actually the store payed us to take them out of the store. My wife was able to get me about 10 packs of razors 4 razors in each for free. On my first solo trip I got 6 small bottles of Frank's hot sauce for free and 4 bottles of KC Masterpiece bbq sauce. It was great. With a little research and time you can save alot on things you use everyday. So in your Sunday paper don't throw those inserts away it's like throwing money away. Better yet send them to me!

There is a television show, Extreme Couponing, where people get like $2200 worth of stuff for $8.57. It's crazy.

Yup my wife and I watch it. We want to get to that level eventually. Those stores in the show double coupons which they don't do here. So they have an advantage.

When I first saw the title I thought it just meant a show about clipping coupons while snusing Odens Extreme.

Ugh, I have a love/hate relationship with coupon people. I am a manager of walgreens which is a very popular destination for coupon clippers. I love them in that they increase our sales and even don't mind dealing with all the extra paperwork. The hate part is when the coupon clippers don't understand how coupons work and feel it neccesary to yell and scream at us at the store since we can't bend the rules for them.

Tips for coupon clippers-The store employees do not make the rules governing coupon use, yelling at them like they aren't even people does not solve a thing.
-One manufacters coupon can be used per item, no more, the manufacters set these rules so that they can hope to still make money, the store does not make these up.
-Just because a coupon prints at checkout, it does not make it a store coupon, it is still a manufacters coupon and is subject to the same rules.
-You have to pay sales tax on any amount that a coupon takes off...sorry, the government does not care that you paid less.
-If you use a register reward on the same offer that printed that reward, it will not print a new one. Please use the register rewards on a different offer THEN use the new reward on the original one and you will have no problems.

          Sorry I couldn't help myself...

Speaking of coupons, generalsnus.com is offering $2.50 off any can of General snus purchased within the United States. In my area, that brings down the price to $1.95 per can.

Lol! I will have to say though that I almost wish I had the time to do the coupon thing, you can make out with a ton of stuff for next to nothing for sure. I do occasionally just happen across a great deal, like the three bodywashes I just got for 60 cents which typically go for 4.99 each. Sometimes it works to my advatage to see the coupon clippers because sometimes what they buy is something I need so I just have to track down the coupons they used.

I got one of those as well snusjus, unfortunately general isn't available in my area without me going for a nice drive. I'm hoping it comes available at speedways around here soon.

have you tried the grocerygame.com. i've actually gotten money back on stuff. you purchase 10 newspapers on monday (sunday papers at a reduce price) and the website (you can do it for $1 for the first month an discontinue their service they are great about letting you do that right away) and the site send you a list for everything that is on sale on the paper and at your local gorcer. for example, here kroger sometimes runs ads for 10 for $10 on colgate and the paper has a dollar off coupon so you pay taxes on that and nothing else! i rack up on stuff like toothpaste, shampoo, spaghetti sauce, pasta, things of that nature, and its pretty good, one time i got hamburger helper for $1.00 off coupon and they were on sale for .75 cents and i got change back, the girl at the register asked me if it was legal. haha. although my husband hated me for a while bc of all the mealhelpers, it was good to know that you can do that. Good luck.

                    xo

my wife has been watching that extreme show but stated a lot of what those people are doing is not possible in our stores. There are doubling restraints, rewards restraints with additional coupons and some other deals which are not allowed. She does coupon but that show just blows away any all attempts she has made.

I usually go to http://www.retailmenot.com/ to check for any online coupons. Every once in a while, groupon will have something decent as well.

The only coupons I 'clip' are those such as that $2.50 off General coupon. I admit it, I am way too lazy to watch store ads and clip coupons..if you have the patience, more power to you. I will continue to do my part though and pay full price on items so manufacturers can continue to issue coupons.
