I hear you, I take my stance because I think more people get married than they should, leading to the divorce rates we have and kids with messed up home lives. I got married because having a family and kids was important to me. If it is not important to another perhaps neither should marriage be. That is all I am saying. I have been married twice, the first time not so happily the second time very much happy. The first time I was married in the catholic church, why? Not because I wanted to but because I was trying to make other people happy. The first wife translated the words "forever after" to mean OWNERSHIP and her happiness no matter how I felt about things. This actually lasted 30 years. Then one day I was tired of it all and walked out July 4th 2004.
The second one has really been the happiest times I've ever had. We lived together for 3 years and then decided we did belong together so I got married again, in a church of my choice this time and also because my present wife didn't have a church wedding the first time around. Now I go to church on a regular basis with her. this works for us. It'll be 4 years next month and we just can't stand being apart.
