    Jesus...

8.8 .... what kind of building do those guys have ?

if a 8.8'er would hit any part of Europe it would be all ruins

the highest i've heard of was in 1977 in Romania - 7.7 magnitude .. and half of Bucharest was ruins.

Holy shit, an 8.8 earthquake? That's outrageous, I bet there is a giant tidal wave pushing it's way through the ocean somewhere right now waiting to destroy some cities.

KGW News 8, our local affiliate, is trying to figure out why there
is a Tsunami watch for Multnomah County, which covers Portland.
                      It is 50-60 miles inland.

I was reading that if there is a river that dumps into the pacific, then the tsunami will push water upriver, and it can cause massive flooding too. Could that be it?

Possibly? I'm on CNN now watching the massive oil refiner fire.

Tsunami watch issued for Oregon coast

A tsunami watch was issued for the coasts of Oregon, Washington and California as well as parts of Alaska.

A wave could hit just before 7:30 a.m. Friday but scientists hadn't worked out yet the size of the possible wave.

More information as it becomes available.

No loss of life or severe collateral damage was immediately reported in the central Tokyo area, although high-rise buildings could be seen visibly swaying as the ground continued to shake
                            .

                            Holly crap :^)
