    Rakuten Snus Japan

I notice that snus are available from an online shop to Japan called Rakuten. Anyone here ever used it and is snus available in Japan in any shops? I am planning to spend July there and you know, curious.

I suspect that, if it is available, it would be as a novelty and would be way, way, *way* overpriced. You can't buy an apple for a sensible price in Japan, never mind exotic Scandinavian tobacco.

Actually the prices listed in yen on the site look similar to what we pay elsewhere. Of course these would have a very small customer base in Japan but if there is a site, which looks quite comprehensive, somebody is buying!

I was thinking more the "do they have any in shops" question - I think the high street price for snus would be considerably more than what one would pay online.

I have spent a few years in Japan and it is, contrary to what most might think, a remarkably relaxed place when it comes to smoking and various other vices   . Few restrictions and most people couldn't care less. Who knows, snus may be more popular there than we think. And if it catches on, watch out, EVERYONE will have to be snusing. Or clubs and communities will start to pop up with an obsessive focus on snus. That's Japan .

Oh, I agree - Japan loves their vices and they like them to almost cartoonish extremes, at times  They also seem to pay a lot for stuff. I had a look and the prices seem around ¥800-1000 (45-55Kr). About between what you would pay in Sweden and what you would pay in Norway, I think.

Holy Cow! It is indeed a "smoking accessories" shop in Tokyo with pipes, cigars, lighters, snuff, and snus, all the big brands. And an online service. If there is one there must be more! And since I will be in the general vicinity of Tokyo next summer, I am all set. Around 800 yen per can is maybe 50% more than a pack of smokes in Japan.
                A million thanks for this.

Wish you luck in The Quest for the Swedish Snus in Japan.
It could be interesting. Drop a few lines when you are back.

I was in Tokyo for the past week and went to the shop: http://www.lapierre.co.jp/shopbrand/...1/X/brandname/
It is a small hole in the wall, and all they had in stock was General portions, Catch Eucalyptus and Cassis Menthol, and some kind of loose in brown tins. 800 yen per tin, no discount for buying a roll. I got 2 General portions and left assuming they do most of their business online. The tins have the health warning stuff in Japanese, so they are able to import from Sweden to there, it appears.

LD and Camel snus in Sweden are owned by JTI- Japan Tobacco International.

Eventually snus usage will probably explode in Japan and the rest of Asia which is why JTI has acquired snus brands. As the third largest tobacco company in the world they plan and plan and plan. Japanese companies are more worried about the next decade and even next generation so not so worried about the next financial quarter.

Rakuten is like an Amazon or Ebay so they carry all kinds of stuff but I don't think they sell outside of Japan.

They indeed don't. That is why you have to use a forwarding service.

Most of us are using BuySnus (unfortunately, they don't ship to EU states).

You can also try Northerner (but be aware, there are mixed to negative reports regarding their online shop).
