One type of snus that I want, and that isn't even found in Sweden, is just a straight up menthol snus. Not mint, not spearmint, not wintergreen, but just Newport style straight menthol. I've never had a straight up menthol snus, because no one makes one, but I think I'd like it.

Great point--given the demand for LS here in the states, this would be a great idea! The can design, I believe, is one of the biggest factors (and obviously its distinct flavor). It's simple, practical, and different than any other product. Even Skruf packaging is distinct and modern too.

Didn't Lorillard just bail out of the snus market while only in the testing phase?

Your product needs to be as close to Swedish snus as possible in cost, amount in can, manufacturing process, nicotine levels, nicotine delivery, list of ingredients, natural flavorings, food grade ingredients etc... No weird flavors unless it is a limited run. Marketing that will invite the smokers and dippers to the fact that snus are not a when you can't smoke/dip but an actual alternative to doing so. We all already know that but RJR markets differently so they can keep there smokers smoking (and dieing from lung cancer).

Being a reformed smoker, I would first like a COMPLETE ingredient list, i.e. no insulation, salt peter, or other chemical crap that they pushed into me for years.

That done, no sugar "Swedish style" snus. Go ahead and wow me with flavor concoctions.

Yeah they're not from Lollilard. Apparently those guys are planning to enter the dip market I can't wait to see what they come up with. A cigarette branded snus is a bad idea mostly because people will argue it's meant as a dual use product, it's actually good at getting people smokers to try the product imo. The other problem is that an obscure cigarette brand like Grand Prix, Trayerton, Tahoe, etc. will automatically make what you're selling look like a discount product. Nat Sherman snus might sell well though.

Yes, this is the perfect portion size/shape in my opinion. I use them almost exclusively now. When I take my next step down in nicotine level, I hope there are more options in this portion style.

If you want dippers you will need something that is cut like Kardus (longer cut) and that tastes like a amped up Grov. Snus tends to be more subtle in flavor and less enduring when lipping it. These seem to be the two major hurtles that you will face converting a dipper to snus.

If you can cut it and treat it so it can hold its own in the lower lip while offering a more pronounced natural tobacco flavor you will take the American Market. And for comparison note that Kardus' flavor will not take the US market (it tastes like chewing tobacco that has been diced up).

If you are starting with portions I think lx's advice natural and mint might be your best bet.

And as stressed by others.............if it is not produced according to the Swedish standards................then move on to another project.

Give me an American Snus as follows: steam-cured, TSNA count of less than 3 ppm, loose, a cut similar to American fine cut, a 45 gram or RedSeal brand size can, a Grov, General, or Copenhagen flavor, a price of $4.00 or less per can, and a nicotine content of 12 mg/g. Do that, and you will have a customer for life. It would definelty convert the dip market. You would probably have to do wintergreen or berry flavors for the smokers.

Remove most of the American Chew from the shelves and replace them with Swedish snus.

Work out some kind of deal so you get a cut of the proceeds for your trouble.

                      my 2 cents

Please make it with a pH level suitable for nicotine absorption. That's one of the main reasons I went "looking" for Swedish snus. I liked the concept of a no spit tobacco product, but beyond the overly sweet taste of Camel, I didn't get the nicotine kick I was looking for from US based products.
+1 for the Thunder Frosted size/ shaped portion

i will gladly send a tin of each for the top guys to try if they will consider it
make the portions either long or regular sized
make the grind of the los somewhere between grov and prima
                        8-12 mg nic
send the snuson community free cans of each one you produce for feedback and test it in new york city, atlanta, augusta, houston, dallas, los angelos, san fran, twin cities, and chicago.

I'm really looking forward to the General Long portions myself and really hope they go on sale here in the US.

Since you asked what WE want. I like the more straight flavors like General, Skruf, Nick and Johnny. The most highly flavored snus that I use is Gustavus. It's hard to describe except that it's a bit fruity and floral, with just the right amount of sweetness.

I think in general, American palettes are trained to like sweetness. Something like Thunder or Oden's might work well for a broader base of people.

that'll make customers use your product more often. it will probably make it easier for us to convert more people to snus.

did I mention nipple shaped portions? Who wouldn't want to suck on one of them?
                              +1

PP hit it square on the head. Forget my idea of higher nicotine & lower TnA.s This .....^^^^ is the answer, I'm telling you!!!
