I think Maxi portions would be popular for US tastes.
What do YOU want in American snus?

That's one thing I like about Gustavus. You get the citrus taste, but there's so much more going on.Originally posted by RobsanX View PostSince you asked what WE want. I like the more straight flavors like General, Skruf, Nick and Johnny. The most highly flavored snus that I use is Gustavus. It's hard to describe except that it's a bit fruity and floral, with just the right amount of sweetness.

Not just female friendly (although that is very important), but friendly to anyone who might be a potential snuser. That means variety, and perhaps catering to tastes that are not well-represented on this board. We here are already snus converts. To expand the market, a manufacturer might add some brands or flavors that wouldn't necessarily please the majority of SnusOn members. But if that's what it takes to increase the number of US snusers, it's all good.Originally posted by ladysnus View PostCome on, you need to make snus that is female friendly and the above mentioned are not!

you beat me to that idea my friend. [of course you simply read their responses before I had a chance to]
wow think of the names we could come up with for penis and nipple shaped portioned snus. For the sake of the forum members I will keep my name recommendations to myself........for now.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times. Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I want it to taste like tobacco
And I want it to have nicotine.
And I want it to be pasteurized (or a comparable process).
And I want it to be regulated (not restricted) by the FDA
And...I will just continue ordering snus form Sweden.

I think this is an excellent point. Perhaps something along the lines of menthol, something familiar to many smokers that might help them to make the switch, that along with a straight tobacco taste ala Ettan or Grov.Originally posted by PipenSnus View PostNot just female friendly (although that is very important), but friendly to anyone who might be a potential snuser. If snus is to grow in popularity, it needs to have at least perceptive ties to current products to ease the transition process. As much as I hate to say it, Camel did exceedingly well in attracting new smokeless users by having flavors that at least superficially resembled something smokers could relate to, as well as hyping up the "Spitless" aspect of snus. That's what grabbed me originally, as traditional smokeless was not to my taste with the whole spitting everywhere thing, or carring around a can with toxic waste in it. Just my .02.

Why are SnusOn member tastes different from the typical American? I don't know about you guys, but I wasn't born with snus in my mouth, and I consider myself a typical American for our purposes here. Quality is quality. It transcends nationality, and when people are exposed to it, it'll be recognized. I've said it before, but I completely oppose Americanizing snus. Nothing good will come from catering to the lowest common denominator.

Then explain how Camel snus made it out of focus group testing. I would say that is what the majority of people tested liked the best. I can only guess that most Americans like artificially sweetened garbage. Ok, that's a bit harsh, but probably not too far off the mark.Originally posted by lxskllr View PostWhy are SnusOn member tastes different from the typical American? The sweet crap may have immediate appeal, but real snus has appeal after a very short amount of time. It's like comparing Arbor Mist to real wine. Sure, Arbor Mist tastes good. It's like being a kid again with a nice big glass of KoolAid, but when you compare it to real wine, it's lacking in just about every area.Originally posted by RobsanX View PostThen explain how Camel snus made it out of focus group testing. I'd be interested in knowing what was demoed in the RJR focus groups. They may have never even proposed a real snus.
