I looked at it, but I am a pipe only man. After 25 years, I just desperately love pipes, have NEVER been a fan of bongs, even if they are more "efficient"

I have read good things about both, but Vapor Genie has a few more fans. Most importantly, I just fell in love with the hand carved Vapor Genie. And loving my pipe is a big thing for me. Lifetime guarantee is comforting and Vapor Genie just has a steller reputation as a company. Plus, lifetime replacement screens if I care to take them up on that.

In the end, I guess it just came down to which one I like more. Plus, Vapor Genie is just a state away, in fact, not to far from North Carolina's border. Paid an extra $4 for priority mail, so crossing fingers, should have it by tomorrow. The Vaporstar is only available from across the pond and we all know what it is like to wait for those orders. :lol: :lol: :lol:

I expect if I fall in love with Vaping, I will buy a few more over the next year. May one day get the Vaporstar as well with the little bong attachment. But for now, the Vapor Genie is all I need and want.

After reading all the reviews and forums you posted, I just ordered one too. I'm a medical herbalist and look forward to trying some combos like California Poppy and Kava. I have a large assortment of medical herbs on hand as well as some loose tobacco and various nasal snuffs. A blend of California poppy, Hawaiian kava and Rooster snuff should produce some interesting results

I would be way interested in hearing about how the Kava works out!!! About 5 years ago, I got into it for a while after reading about all the problems the California Highway patrol was having with Kava users. Seems there is a large community of folks there who use it. I ended up getting mine sent from Hawaii. Did it the completely traditional way making the moist god awful tasting stuff to drink, but very much enjoyed how it made me feel, and definitely helped me sleep way better. Still have a special cup I used for it.

Eventually, money issues and life got in the way and Ii stopped buying it, long lost the info of where I was getting it from. But would be REALLY interested in hearing how it vaporizes.

I suspect I will just need to eventually break down and get a second Vapor genie for my non, green herb use. Hear mixed reports about cross contamination issues.

Toque yes, Elyxr no.

I've been snuffing on and off for over 30 years. Right now my favorites are Dholakia Swiss Chocolate, QWS Irish Coffee, Rooster, Toque Quit and Honey Whiskey and Poschl Gletscher Prise. I also like to mix American with British types to get unique flavors I like.

Snus got me off a 40 year pack a day cigarette habit. I started with General; however, I'm now partial to Thunder Frosted, Roda Lacket/Claq Qui and Oden's. I really love los and tend to mix my favorite liquors in my los. I love Oden's Los Extra Stark Cinnamon with Fire Water. I've discovered that when I add some liquor with the los I don't tend to get mudslides.

I have not used the "green stuff" since my college days back in the 70's. I am a Master Herbalist and am familiar with many herbs that work better than the green stuff!

Kava should be used short term and can be very nasty on the liver- especially if you drink it.

I use a thing called a "Vitamix" which is nothing more than a blender on storides to make some really fantastic herbal drinks.

BTW, don't know if you have ever tried it, but you'll be amazed what your smoke tastes like when you add a pinch of your favorite snuff to it. The nic and thc combo can be awesome.

I haven't tried it. But plan on doing a lot of experimenting over the next few weeks. I hadn't thought about mixing a little snuff with the green, sounds wonderful.

I will do some research on the other herbs when I have time, thank you for those links.

I switched from alcohol when I was 22, almost killed myself one night after getting very drunk while quite depressed. It really scared me the next morning and I realized then that maybe alcohol not the best for me, started smoking much more. At 25, I made a decision that pot was really good for me, pushed back the type A personality traits that won me few friends, and made a conscious choice then to smoke every day. That was 19 years ago.

Now, it really isn't the recreational aspect that is important to me, it is how it makes my head work. During the times I have to be dry (looking for work and such), I get really trapped in reliving my past. Like all the bad keeps looping back on me. But the moment I smoke, that looping breaks, and I can be happy being in the here and now.

I would be happy exploring other options that sets my head right like that.

btw, if you do make use of caffeine, you really should give the Elyxr a try. Yes, it tastes like** at first, but it's effects really are sublime.

I can't do alcohol or caffeine anymore - they started to have really nasty effects on me once I hit 50. I only use alcohol to flavor my los... and only just a teaspoon full. Anymore than that will cause me problems.

I use the herb Guarana as a substitute for caffeine. Ommph makes an energy snus with Guarana; however, they also have caffeine mixed in with it.

I've mixed some powdered herbs with los that have produced some interesting results. I've also mixed a pinch Rooster with Oden's Extra Stark los. WOW :shock: what a kick :!: I think Rooster is 85% St. Nic!

I have a created a bedtime snus using Offroad Licorice los with the following powdered herbs: Valerian, Passion Flower, Chamomile, St. John's Wort, Skullcap, Anis and a pinch of Stevia that enhances (sweetens) the Licorice flavor.

Let us know when you get your Vapor Genie and how it works. I hope the learning curve with the flame not touching the filter won't be a problem.

If you spend any time reading the threads on the Vaporizer forum, it shouldn't be a big problem. I know that you want the flame just on the inside of the top bowl. Not above it, not all the way down, but just barely in.
