Pact Act - US orders no effect!

We were, it appears, in a panic over nothing. I spoke to Royal Mail again today and they say USPS must complete their contract to deliver UK mail under the Berne Agreement and nothing short of refusing to deliver all mail from the signatory countries can change it.

I do however feel for all the US companies who can no longer send tobacco through USPS.

Wait, so Toque and any other company in the UK can send whatever products they want? lol

    This is awesome. :P

It would be nice to learn a list of those countries so we can seek out snus shops there.

I'd like to be able to order like I used to. It was fun getting a few cans here and there when some piqued my interest. It was also fun planning a stash, but that fun is over now.

        Wicked,

I don't see why it should be. If we can send snuff to the US other countries should be able to send snus.

From your initial post, the impression is that the UK is protected by the Berne Agreement:

I've tried looking it up but it seems to deal more with copyright-type issues. Couldn't find a list of countries that the Agreement pertains to.

Maybe Sweden and other countries don't have the same agreement and protections as the UK Royal Mail.

My fault it was called the Berne Agreement in the UK and attributed to Sir Rowland Hill in 1874. It changed to the 'Universal Postal Union' which most Countries have signed.

On 9 October 1874 (a day now celebrated throughout the world as World Post Day) the Treaty of Bern, establishing the General Postal Union, was signed. Membership in the Union grew so quickly during the following three years that its name was changed to the Universal Postal Union in 1878.

The 1874 Treaty of Bern succeeded in unifying a confusing international maze of postal services and regulations into a single postal territory for the reciprocal exchange of mail unhindered by single country regulations. The barriers and frontiers that had impeded the free flow and growth of international mail had finally been pulled down. The US ban on the mailing of tobacco is only legal within the US and cannot restrict international mail.

It's even questionable if it's legal in the US.

I'm tellin' ya Rodrick, I know you can make snus as good as your snuff, but I've got the blueberry snus figured out all ready. If I could blend in some of your Rustica i might lock myself in a room for a while.

Been tootin' your natural toast, lime toast & coke mix, and original as of late.

Well, it's time for ME to place a celebratory order, myself!

But not too big. It's nearly time for Xmas Pudding.

I remain confident that the USPS portion of it will eventually be stricken down.

Well, Northerner and Buysnus should be looking into sending by mail again from Sweden, I would assume the same rules apply. The UPS charges and inconvenience is an outrage. I've been getting snuff in the mail without problem or delay from both Toque and Mr. Snuff and am almost inclined to give up snus completely if I have to pay $15 - $20 for shipping and be home to sign for my package

Part of PACT was to age verify to make sure people are of legal age or whatever, but I've NEVER been asked for my ID on a delivery. Always signed, and that's it. Granted, I'm 26 - but I look younger - so I'm sure to be safe the driver should ask for my ID anyway. But they never have.
