Are Filtered "Little Cigars" just cigarettes?

I've been browsing online tobacco shops post PACT.

Many of them are suggesting that people try their mini filtered cigars. They look like cigarette packs and are sold by the carton. Lots of them are less than $10 for a carton.

I used to work with a guy that smoked little cigars. They had a filter and came in in a cigarette sized pack. They were NOT cigarettes though. They smelled like cigars and the filters were a bit sweet to the taste.

So, we know Djarum took this route. Are there any "little cigars" that taste like cigarettes?

I feel like just by asking this question I'm kind of verbalizing a taboo. We're not idiots, and if there is a technicality around the insanity of taxes and mail order bans I want in. The law is semantics and if there is a round about way to call my ass a horse then so be it.

I see like a bazillion different brands. I can't try them all. Is there anyone here who has tried some of these and knows of a kind or style that tastes like regular full flavor or light cigarettes? Are they non-FSC?

    I believe they are.

After the tax went up last year, I switched to Wranglers ($1.90 a pack). I did inhale them as they were cigarettes.

Looks like 'Little Cigars' may be cigars in name only...

"On March 30th the President signed into law the PACT Act.
This new legislation prohibits the shipping of Cigarettes, RYO tobacco, Little Cigars, & Snuff.

As of June 26th, we will no longer sell or ship any of these products."

The ones I had were very heavy, with a cigar-like flavor. They kind of split the difference between a cigarette, and a cigar. I wouldn't consider them an acceptable substitute for cigarettes. Maybe they're better now, I haven't had them in a long time, but I wouldn't pay much for them myself.

I think you'll find that most little cigars are made with mainly pipe tobacco. Whether they class as cigarettes or not i'm not sure. I tried quite a few brands before i got into snus mainly for the cost factor. They are cheap but i never really found a brand that i could smoke more than a pack of, apart from maybe swishers. Santa Fe brand was probably the worst.

I always thought the difference (legally anyway) was the wrapper. Cigarettes have a paper wrapper, but cigars, even the little ones, have a tobacco leaf wrapper.

i have seen pipe tobacco sold as "dual purpose". meaning it is cigarette tobacco chopped up so they can call it pipe tobacco. Same brands and names as before as RYO cig tobacco but now it's chopped. little harder to roll or tube until you tweak it a little. the same shops sell different brands of little cigars. some sound like little cigars but others sound like little cigars made with dual purpose pipe tobacco. Some sites call the tobacco smooth or something like that. it's sort of like 1.25 "tobacco cigarette" rolling papers.

They're basically cigarettes, I haven't tried them but stuff like smokers choice, cheyenne, Gambler have to be. I'm sure some of them taste dramatically different. People there's not much difference between pipe tobacco and cigarette tobacco. Pipe tobacco uses some different blends of tobacco and it's air cured so it's mostly more acidic so it would be harder to inhale and wouldn't give you as much nicotine, but there's stuff like prince albert and half and half that you can use as rolling tobacco or cigarette tobacco. Stuff like Largo, The Good stuff, Criss Cross is basically cigarette tobacco cut differently mostly wider and longer I think it injects easier than cigarette tobacco, but it's harder to roll.

Well, just by the name you can see that "cigarettes" were originally conceived as "little cigars".

As a cigar smoker i have had my fair share of cigars and can tell you by taste good or bad and inbetween. I have had the little cigars yall are speaking of. Yall are both correct. These "Little Cigars" can be both. The ones yall see in the store that say little cigars are infact little cigars or cigar tobacco "tobacco leafe" mixed with clove. The clove is what gives its sweet taste and that numbing sensation when smoked. These cigars for someone who has never had them or someone who smokes a lot of them might notice the tip of their tongue go numb or feel different from the clove. In indonesia they have the same product but mixed with cigarette tobacco and clove. Also they have no filter. EHH...yeah. The only true little cigars are made b romeo y julieta or any of the major cigar brands which make infact mini hand rolled cigars that come in a metal tin. You can get these over the counter at any walgreens or cvs but like any true cigar they need to be properlly humidified to a humidity of 70%. I bought these little romeo's as a freshman in college in that i did not want to smoke big cigars all the time when i was going places or having a quick smoke with friends. They are good but the ones you buy over the counter are not humidified and are not fresh. For someone who is not an avid cigar smoker it might not matter to you in that you might not be able to tell the taste difference or might not care. Go to any cigar shop and they might carry the same cigars, there are many different brands, but they will be cared for and be properly humidifed and taste a lot different! The clove cigars are cheap in the U.S. well last time i looked under five dollars. These other little cigars start from around 17 dollars anywhere to 30 dollars depeneding on brand. Any questions just message me. Sorry for the long explanation

I find Meharis to be the nicest small cigar... either their Java or their Ecuador.

Djarum are not little cigars (unless this is a specific tax dodge in the USA) - they are a kretek style cigarette from southeast Asia which uses black paper and includes cloves in the tobacco mix for a very special flavour.

Oh and BTW - for a first time poster you sound very much like an advertisement! That's normally considered bad manners!
