So what's up with the shipping charges from Sweden from Northerner?

What a bunch of crap! I guess Northerner wants to price everyone out of buying online! Not me luckily but a buddy here on the site. I would be twice as pissed off as he is!

"They messed up another one of my orders. First off, they only offered UPS shipping for some reason on my last order (snus x loose) $49.80 shipping and then today I find out UPS charges $50.00 for brokerage fees!!"

Your package will pass customs without a broker (just slower)

Let me ask you Social, did your friend get this bill after receiving his snus or did he have to pay it prior to UPS releasing the package to him? In other words, at what point in the transaction was he billed?

The Northerner has a US warehouse so I don't see how they are pricing us out.

I have received most of my over 200 cans from The Northerner's US warehouse.

It would only be in their interest to get us our snus. I think after PACT the shipping
options will be looked at more closely.

Odd. i ordered from Northerner and it was posted that they shipped on Thursday last week (6/10). About 80% of it was coming from the US warehouse (PA?). I live in the Boston area and haven't' received anything yet. I should also state that all was shipped via UPS ($7.00 from the US warehouse and $18 from the Swedish warehouse) Tracking says that the Swedish stuff should be delivered today yet I haven't seen the US stuff yet. Huh. I also got no tracking number from the US warehouse.

$24 in shipping is nothing on a $385 order IMO. They can kiss my lily white backside if they charge me a brokerage fee (nobody asked them to expedite anything) unless of course they don't release my snus.

I'd broker that bill right to the trash.

When you paid your shipping charge you entered into a contract with UPS. They cannot then go back and re-stipulate that contract or charge you for services that were not originally requested.

Throw it in the trash and all the ones that follow it.

I just ordered 100 cans of thunder frosted and it cost 50$ for 2nd day shipping. What's odd is they offer 2nd day shipping twice, and one of them costs 9$ more, but no explanation as to why that 2nd day shipping is somehow more expensive than the other 2nd day shipping?


I was pissed at paying 50$ for shipping from the US warehouse but I suppose you can get what you take. Stupid UPS.

My snus order was 69.94 and the shipping (only shipping offered on the site was UPS Express) was 49.71, the brokerage fee was 50.89 from UPS. You have to pay that on the spot when they deliver or you don't recieve your goods. I thought maybe the PACT started early as far as shipping went from the Northerner Sweden, wrong I placed another order the following night and it was shipped Swedish post, same amount of snus 11.64 in shipping. There was three different options for shipping for the second order. I don't understand how there is only one option one day then three the next. What's up with that!!! That's one of the things I'm pissed at, the second being the brokerage fee (ridiculous!!!), and the third, missing part of my order!!!! That's what sent me over the edge!! Sorry Mister UPS man!! Northerner did reply back to that and is shipping it out.

Damn Mcoffman, so they showed up to your door and demaded you pay them 50$ on the spot or else you don't get your package? Did you try swiping it and running?
WTF is that? No brokerage fee was agreed to, I don't see how they can enter you into a contract without your consent, and then delay their fullfillment of an existing contract between you two to deliver the goods untill you pay them the 50$, as per your new shipping agreement they just created on the spot. That sounds criminal to me.

Yep! On the spot!!! And yeah! your right, that it should of never happened since I NEVER agreed to a brokerage fee. I was sent an email by UPS stating that the FDA was clearing my package. CLEARING!! The frickin PACT hasn't even taken effect yet!! Or DID IT!!! I'll try to post a copy of that email for all to read. According to the UPS driver after I threatened to choke him and my wife calmed me down, he said all tobacco products shipped in from overseas will have a brokerage fee.

Crap. I was thinking about placing one last order but now I think I'll just chuck that idea. I'm good for two years, snus and snuff wise.

This is all so dam stupid. Pact isn't even in affect yet and UPS is trying to charge xtra for no apparent reason? And $50 !?! Where do they come up with these numbers?

If this is how its going to be then the suppliers need to post, in check-out, that we may be charged a brokerage fee on top of shipping.

I'm starting to think that maybe UPS will try to scam us as well. Hell, most people will pay whatever they have to so they can get their tobacco for their addiction.
