Ordering with visa gift card?

I recieved a few visa and american express giftcards and tried to order from both buysnus.com and northerner.com but both sites declined them. Has anyone else tried to order using one of these and have had the same problem?

I haven't used them myself, but someone else on these forums had issues with having them accepted. I think the conclusion was that there was a very limited number of cards(that aren't available in the USA) that go through without issue.
