Canada Custom charges? I'm new

hi everyone. I'm new

What are the charges for Shipping say like 5 cans of husky or something from a online shop in the us?

Snuff is like 15 bucks a tin here in Ontario Canada where I live. So I was curious if it's cheaper to purchase online and just pay the customs charges as well. Any thoughts?

Welcome to SnusOn. Canada's customs fees are highly variable, and you can never be sure what you'll get hit with. It ranges from nothing to absurd, and you won't find out until you try. From what I gather, you'll tend to do ok for a yearly average, but individual orders may be excessively charged.

I'm not Canadian and I have no experience with Canada customs beyond what I've read here on the board. Canada can be really outrageous on what they charge and your packages can get delayed going through customs.

Your best chances on getting orders through untaxed and without delays seem to be when you order no more than 5 cans at a time.

Good choice, it's what I used before I started using snus. Still buy a can once in a while, have a pinch or two, and never touch it again until it's dried out heh.

hard to know what to actually go with...everywhere around here in canada only stock cope and skoal...and both are 15 bucks a can...no snus

I'd suspect addititional Canadian charges would be the same or similar be it importing dip, or snus. Why not order some snus?

I've only ordered from buysnus sofar, but they split the orders into groups of 5 tins. If you get hit with duty or taxes it will either be $45 or $88 per 5 tins depending on wether they open it ad assess it fairly or assign fees based on the total weight of the package.

I'm 50/50 on my last 6 orders as far as getting caught, and they have assessed $88 per shipment of 5 most of the time (this is in BC mind you).

I've read you can contest the charges and get them lowered to $45 but the forms and procedure for requesting a review are worse than filling out gov't income tax forms. I gave up, and now accept what I get hit with as the price of importing snus. It's still about a third of the price of smoking here.

And that's a good deal compared to smoking! 5 tins would last me a bit more than 1 month, so I'd be looking at ~$80 per month, or $2.67 per day. Ridiculous....

Crap, it would be even more than that. I was just calculating the taxes, and not taking the cost of snus into account. Welcome to America's future :^S

Yeah it's ridiculous, but smokes used to cost me about $250 - $300 per month... Snus costs me about a third of that at my current usage which is about 6-8 per day. And it's so much more fun!

well if mine come to 80 bucks for duty im not going to pick up my order...they can scr** themselves...im hoping usps can get this done with no duty...will have to wait and see

That is $17.60 per tin, in taxes only! So probably about $23 each after retail cost and shipping. That is absolutely absurd. I have always admired Canada and Canadians for many reasons, but this is nothing less than extortion.

I have about 100 cans at the moment, meaning I would have had to pay about $1,760 more.... wow. (that's only of course if all would have been caught by customs, but even at 50% rate, that's almost $900, or nearly $10 extra per can)
