I will sing their praises when I finally get my order. Their customer service, as far as response's go, is good.

I'm gonna place an order with them this Friday, if it comes before yours, they just don't like you!

Frank – I didn’t say Northerner was not to be trusted, I merely asked those who have more experience with their service. I find it legitimate to do so given that this was my first contact ever with Northerner (and with online snus purchase for that matter) when I’ve had no answer from them 1,5 week after my first message on http://www.northerner.com/northerner/contact_us_en.php and given that my cans of snus to be delivered in 24h hadn’t appeared 2 weeks after the date it was said to be shipped.
Anyways, I got an answer from Northerner yesterday shortly after posting this message. Apparently only one of my 3 messages actually made it through to them.
So for the first problem (no response from customer service) I guess it’s merely a problem with the website (that happened twice with three or four days of interval). Concerning their responsiveness I may add that I also got a message from someone from Northerner after posting my first message on this thread.
Hence I finally got my UPS reference number and found out that my cans of snus were last scanned the 8th of January. They had then arrived properly in France and were tagged “import scan”.

For my second and last problem (delayed delivery) I guess this means it got stuck in customs.
Mazur – thanks a lot for the URL about French customs. But after having read it rapidly I have the impression I actually SHOULD have been able to get my snus through customs provided it was properly declared to be tobacco (which is the case according to Northerners website) and provided it had warning texts (eg. “tobacco may kill you”) written on it (which is the case for all swedish snus cans I’ve ever seen). I’ll open a new thread on that matter I guess…

                  I want my snus... :-{

                      it's a UPS/Customs thing, NOT a northerner thing...

                        Snus tin

I ordered a portion snus tin on the 23th of dec(ok i expected to wait a bit longer because of the christmas holidays).......anyway was debited from my bank account on the 31st dec........ i was still waiting on the 23rd of jan.....so decided to e-mail them.....got a reply saying they had e-mailed me telling me that the tin was discontinued(even when you could still order it)....and i should look in my spam tray( no e-mail hahaha!)......they also said....i could choose something else......which i did.....( loose tin)looked at the order to see it had been sent the next day thought it was funny as i didn`t get a u.p.s notification even when i payed for the service on the original order(extra!)....
Well got fed-up waiting so again e-mailed them on the 5th of jan .......got a apology...and they said the tin would be sent by u.p.s express and should get by this tuesday....been waiting now and checking my e-mails for the tracking notification over the weekend to no advail.
To tell you the truth.....i`m taking business else where now........i don`t trust Northerner for service!.....its a waste of time dealing with them

Further to this........with a retraction......They are a good company......As i just received my tin (15/2/10) today.....i think there was a problem with the post(talking to the postie...on being handed this)....so tail between legs on this.....and Many Thanks Northerner....!!!!!!!!

Up until the order I have out right now I have always used Northerner exclusively. The only issue I have had is it always takes 3 weeks (every time!) but I do get it. And on occasion when something is out of stock I get that too even without contacting them.

I went with GetSnus this time just to see if I get it sooner, unfortunately I failed to call and have them switch to USPS so my UPS order is still listed as being in PA, but I know they only update the status once it gets to the locale. It still says it's ontime for a 2/10/10 delivery date, which is 1 week.

Next time I will try ClubSnus and see how fast I get it from them.

                          CG

Edit: I wanted to make the clarification that the 3 week timeframe I mention was the postal service, not Northerner. Northerner usually ships within a few days and it's out of their hands.

+5 to all the pro-Northerner posts. I think every order I've made from Northerner(and they've all been from their facility in Sweden)have been shipped within 24 hours, and reached me within 5-7 business days.

TBD, rickcharles and myself had an opportunity to have lunch with Frank last Spring during his visit to the U.S., and I can say unequivocally that Frank is a good fellow and a confirmed snus aficionado.

We all spent a couple of hours together, and one of the many things we discussed was Customs and the problems some have with them. Frank confirmed, as I remember, that each time a customer loses their shipment to to post or customs problems, they will re-ship the order. That, I think, is outstanding...especially considering that these problems are not caused by Northerner and it really isn't their obligation to deal with it. And, if someone ordered a few rolls, that has to cost the company a significant bit of money. It also opens them up to being taken advantage of by an unscrupulous customer. But they do that, I imagine, under the belief that it is better to re-ship the order and absorb that cost than to perhaps lose a customer in the future and lose more revenue in the long term. That's the mark of outstanding customer service.

Your absolutely right. Many companies have a policy of doing nothing if something gets lost in the mail. Over the many years of using ebay I have had at least 2 purchases end up missing. When I write to paypal about the so called "buyer protection plan" they just come back with the seller says they sent it and that's too bad. The post office can and does screw up even with domestic mail. I think it is fantastic when Northerner makes up for a mistake made by customs or the post office. I am willing to bet that stuff gets lost by customs all the time.

If stuff does get lost in the mail, or whatever, sure, it's not the companies fault, but buyers wanna lash out to someone, and if the company says, "oh well, we sent it", then they probably will lose that customer for any future business.
