The problem with this country is that our citizens are afraid of the government, that is why they will pass this legislation when nobody is looking. They know nobody's going to do anything about it. If you really care about the cause then do something about it, the government is by the people, and for the people.

I live in Washington...
About 5 minutes from the Capitol in fact.
Did the Tea Party thing when I was on leave.
Washington State Government is a disgrace and I am about to move. Both the State Government and the sorry US Reps we send to Washington DC are complete tools. Liberal whiners and they can't wait to pass a Income Tax in the near future. When that happens - I'm gone anyway to a tax free Southern State. Maybe Texas.
This is about taxation and money - that is all. The smoking 15 feet from a business door was just to annoy.
These snapperheads would legalize pot before pushing a cigarette alternative that is far less harmful. Actually, I think the legislature is on pot already.
Will this stop me from ordering Snus?
Not in the slightest!
If they stop shipping it to Washington - I'll have it sent to Oregon. If they stop sending it to Oregon I'll have it sent to Canada. If I can't send orders there - there's Mexico or Dominican Rep or Thailand or anywhere else.
It is good to be a World Traveler.
If Washington State wishes to loose a high income resident - bring it on!
Washington State can get stuffed.
It is for my own personal consumption. It has stopped me from smoking cigarettes.

Okay, a FELONY??? When it's a misdemeanor to possess small amounts of illegal drugs it's a FELONY to ship a LEGAL SUBSTANCE??? what in the HELL???
Well, TN get's plenty of dough from the tobacco industry, so I'm sure it'll be a while before any state laws are passed here like that.
If that happens I'll go to VA or good ol' home state KY, as besides horses all people there do is grow tobacco.
A load of crap, all of it. They are clueless as to what the constituency really cares about. And watch them toot a horn about helping to end cancer related deaths. Morons.
As for enforcement, well I doubt it. But it's the principle of the matter here.

In Tennessee y'all walk right up to her and stick it in.
In Alabama we stick it in and then walk right up to her.

Hello, friends. Many of you have been trying to analyze the true meaning of the statutory language in question:
(1) A person may not:
(a) Ship or transport, or cause to be shipped or transported, any
tobacco product ordered or purchased by mail or through the internet to
anyone in this state other than a licensed wholesaler or retailer; or
(b) With knowledge or reason to know of the violation, provide
substantial assistance to a person who is in violation of this section.
The way this is set up, the law will allow 3 categories of individuals to be punished:
1) Those who ship tobacco.
2) Those who cause tobacco to be shipped.
3) Those who help anyone shipping tobacco.
The short of it is: if you order tobacco online, you fall into categories 2 and probably 3. So yes, you would technically be guilty of a felony. There is some wobble room here, but not enough to discourage a prosecutor from charging you, the Washington state tobacco purchaser.
Note, however, that this does not apply to retailers. If I were in WA, I would strike a deal with a local tobacco-shop owner: he places and receives large orders on my behalf, I compensate him for his trouble.
As an aside, those of you screaming "them damn liberals ain't getting no tobacco taxes from me, ah'yuk!!!" aren't helping the cause at all. It is precisely this kind of thinking that motivates governments to crush tax-free tobacco shipping methods in the first place.

I agree with the above. IF you cannot order it any longer, then go talk to some local tobaccoshop keeper and have him place larger orders for you.
In fact this could be a good deal for a tobacconist if there are more than a few snusers in the area who all place orders once a month thrue him, it could be hundreds of cans.
