I put in an order this past Friday with buysnus. I haven't ordered from them in awhile, but it always took 4 or 5 days to get to me. Northerner is by far the slowest, as it's been seven months and I still haven't received my order.
Who will arrive first?

I call bullshit on that. You said you got a bill from customs for $50.00 on a 5 can order, so it wasn't Northener's fault.Originally posted by superdevil...Northerner is by far the slowest, as it's been seven months and I still haven't received my order.

Wow, as little as I've posted here and I've already got a small troll enemy friend! You can call bullshit all you want, as you've done it twice in one day on two separate threads. I get it, you don't like me. I'm not here to be your pal, and I'll ask you real politely to **** off and go pound sand, and I'll leave it at that.Originally posted by justintemplerI call bullshit on that. In my mind, it was Northerner's fault that customs snatched my order. Anyone that had the same experience would probably feel the same way. I don't like Northerner, and I don't like anyone that makes excuses on behalf of them for not bothering to respond to me in seven months. They're not that busy, just that shitty. Sorry if that's your favorite company, but it ain't mine. Don't hate me for truthfully stating my experiences and opinions.
Now if you don't like me, leave me alone, cause I can get real nasty if I want to.

I have not been pleased with Northerner, as of late, either. Nothing THAT bad though. It sounds like an isolated incident and hope it doesnt happen to me. I guess they could just hold onto that snus for me, cause Id try real hard not to pay it. Sorry dude.

Oh yeah? OH YEAH? Well, OK. :?Youre totally full of shit. In fact, youre so full of shit I believe youre going to float away. lets fight. It's on like Saigon!
Yep, that was my very first order with them. I had high hopes as I'd only read mainly positive things about them, but as usual, by the time I get around to ordering from a company it's my turn to get shat on. To me, writing on a package slip SWEDISH SNUS TOBACCO TAXABLE TAXABLE is the same thing as handing it straight to the customs official. That's strike one.I have not been pleased with Northerner, as of late, either. Nothing THAT bad though. It sounds like an isolated incident and hope it doesnt happen to me. I guess they could just hold onto that snus for me, cause Id try real hard not to pay it. Sorry dude.
Strike two- at least have the decency to call me back or email me a response. I wasn't asking for a handout, I wanted to know if declaring packages in that fashion was norm for the company, and if so how does anybody receive a package from them without getting snagged by the Man? To not bother responding to me after placing three calls (at my expense) internationally, or any number of emails, well that just smacks of arrogance and poor business acumen. I'm not going to keep beating a dead horse, but damn, that's what happened and that's how I feel, and I hate somebody to cry bullshit. I'm sure if it was to happen to him he'd be up here pounding his chest talking about how horrible Northerner is.

So you posted here on snuson for about a month last July, then about a month or 2 later customs snags an order for 5 cans of snus and you make all these international phone calls and emails but not one post about it here on snuson? ummm ok. :?Originally posted by superdevil... after placing three calls (at my expense) internationally, or any number of emails ...

OK, I am gonna be more blunt here than maybe I should.
It is a customs issue, NOT a Northerner issue. Customs issues are NEVER the issue of the shipping company, it is always only an issue between customs and the recicevee. And that is common sense for anyone who has things shipped to them from overseas.
I would suspect no shipping company would respond to you if you were coming off as telling them it is their fault. Customs issues are never the fault of the shipping company, it s always the responsibility of the receiver to do what is necessary to get the shipment cleared through customs. And the fact that you siad you wee questioning why Northerner included the required shipping documents indicates that is exactly how you came off.
I would have ignored your e-mails as well.
And btw, others have had charges placed by customs. It seems to only happen when shipped via UPS, but they just paid what customs told them to pay, or rejected the package. Not a single one of them thought that this had anything to do with the company that sold them the snus. It isn't!!!
Again, just beng blunt here.

Buysnus writes simply "snus" on the customs form, nothing more, nothing less.My understanding, it is legally requred. Buysnus does it as well.
Yeah, sorry to burst your bubble but I have a life. Right now I'm laid off, as I was last July. I don't hang out/post on forums unless I'm on vacation, sick, or otherwise not at work. Posting my dilemma here last year when everyone was head over heels in love with Northerner would have probably garnered more scorn than it has now, so whatever. It happened, I feel it's Northerner's fault, and I'll never again order from them. Take that as you will, assign fault to whomever you please, but that's the way I feel.So you posted here on snuson for about a month last July, then about a month or 2 later customs snags an order for 5 cans of snus and you make all these international phone calls and emails but not one post about it here on snuson? ummm ok
Writing "Swedish Snus Tobacco, TAXABLE TAXABLE" is a Northerner issue. Confiscating my order and charging me 50 bucks tax is a customs issue. Maybe that's how you guys like to roll, but not me.OK, I am gonna be more blunt here than maybe I should.

Well, that's probably why you don't own a large company.I would suspect no shipping company would respond to you if you were coming off as telling them it is their fault. Customs issues are never the fault of the shipping company, it s always the responsibility of the receiver to do what is necessary to get the shipment cleared through customs. And the fact that you siad you wee questioning why Northerner included the required shipping documents indicates that is exactly how you came off.

It's my understanding that what Northerner wrote on the customs slip was unnecessary, and from what I've gathered is not their normal MO. I very politely asked what the deal was, and if they were going to offer me any resolution. A simple "it's not our fault, sorry it happened" probably wouldn't have made me happy, but it would have been better than dead silence. If you run a company the way you suggest, then it would no doubt be dead in the water before it left the ground. If Northerner feels that they're big enough to act as arrogant as they did in my case, then more power to them and more power to anyone that thinks that that's OK. It's not, nor will it ever be good business acumen, but then again maybe my standards are a little high. See, I expect good customer service and to actually receive my product when I place an order, so I guess I'm in the wrong here.
I'm well aware that others have had customs fees to pay. And I'm not deluding myself into thinking that a package from Buysnus similarly won't get held up in customs. But this was a Swedish Post/USPS shipped order, for a few cans that was snatched up and held for ransom by customs. The fact that such a small order that UPS never laid hands on got snatched up in customs should be pretty telling, but I guess it's not.And btw, others have had charges placed by customs. It seems to only happen when shipped via UPS, but they just paid what customs told them to pay, or rejected the package. Not a single one of them thought that this had anything to do with the company that sold them the snus. It isn't!!!
And I appreciate your well formulated opinion, but I disagree with it. Thank you for coming out and saying what you think, instead of trying to be an internet asshole and accusing me of bullshit for whatever reason. It's amazing what some creeps do in order to get their jollies.Again, just beng blunt here.

Well, superdevil, I have no problem with your anger. You indeed had extremely bad luck with your order. BTW, I doubt, that your customs fee was correct, something like 2.50 Dollars seems more appropriate for a 5 can order. Mind you, I'm not an expert for U.S.-customs-laws.Originally posted by superdevil"Swedish Snus Tobacco, TAXABLE TAXABLE"
But one thing seems to be wrong. Everyone in the E.U. has to place a customs-sticker on packages that are sent outside the EU, so if Northerner writes something like "Swedish Snus Tobacco", I think it's just a proof of their law-abidingness. But why the hell should they write "TAXABLE TAXABLE"? Are you sure that Northerner wrote that and not some asshole in the customs office, or a USPS-worker?
BTW, I visited the local customs office only two times in my life (knock on wood), but both times undoubtably a worker from the postal service marked the package as "(possibly) taxable".
Cheers!

No, it was in the same handwriting as the rest of the slip, so I'm pretty sure it was penned by the same hand.Originally posted by chainsnuserWell, superdevil, I have no problem with your anger. And customs definitely tried to overcharge me, by at least 45.00 as far as I could tell. That's not Northerner's fault, that's the inept customs officials I strive so hard to avoid. That's the only time I've ever had to visit the customs office in person, the other run in I had with Customs was when they held a bottle of cologne shipped from Frankfurt- I payed (over the phone) a whopping 2.20 tax fee.
Thanks for understanding my anger.
