SnusCentral: .org and .com
Hey!
It's weird reading speculation about yourself...kind of like being a peeping tom!
Getting a license to sell tobacco in the US and especially to comply with all the State rules by going mail order is not a lot of fun....and it is expensive. Probably why SM bought CI so they would own Getsnus.com. Plus my refrigerator is not that big!
SnusCENTRAL.org is my main passion...the store at .com is to keep the lights on and be a service to the members.
The mail-order ban is a pretext to put in place all the mechanisms to tax ALL internet purchases made in the US. That's why it's really not a ban: the legislation provides UPS, FedEX, etc, with free age verification software and states that as long as the person is of age AND all the "appropriate" taxes are paid, it's OK to deliver.
They are using tobacco as the testing ground for the process since it is so unpopular in the US: the driving point of the legislation was Homeland Security: according to the sponsor of the bill, Hezbollah made $1.5MM "smuggling" cigarettes into the US by purchasing them over the internet.
No one cares if tobacco users (cigars are exempt by the way: can't stop those generically boxed Cuban cigars from getting to Washington!) are put through the growing pains. Once it's figured out, Americans will wake up and see a new column in their check-out cart: State Sales Tax....not just for tobacco: for everything. The States have been screaming for it ever since Al Gore designed the internet.
I'm more concerned with the other legislation which will lead to cigarettes being banned in the US within 5 years. Why else do you think "American Snus" just popped up 2 years ago?
The majority of Americans want cigarettes banned so the 46MM+ nicotine-addicted smokers must have an alternative: aside from keeping Big American Tobacco happy, do have ANY idea how many hundreds of billions of dollars in Federal and State taxes cigarettes generate? Up to 80% of the price of a pack of cigarettes in some States is taxes!
I smoked filtered cigarettes for 30 years. I switched to light cigarettes because Camel told me they were "less harmful". Now we know there is no difference and the Supreme Court ruled that they can be sued by smokers who say they were deceived by false advertising.
And now, with Camel SNUS, we've got Olga the Camel animated spokesperson on snuscamel.com in Swedish dress standing in snowy mountains I've never seen in North Carolina holding up a can of Camel Frost. Above her are tips on travel in Sweden. When did RJRT become a travel agency?
They and the others are trying to associate the reduced harm aspects of Swedish Snus with their God knows what, but it's sure not reduced harm, overpriced crap. We cigarette smokers knew the risks. We got lied to on light cigarettes, but we still knew they were unhealthy.
Most smokers in the US never even heard of snus until Camel, Taboka, (which morphed into Marlboro snus) came along in 2006. They (myself included) thought it was a new invention....until I checked the internet. Tons of info on Swedish Snus and reduced harm..nothing on American Snus. Through slick marketing they are trying to convince US smokers that "Swedish Snus, American Snus, it's all snus!"
And WE know it's not. It is so different that hundreds of thousands if not millions of ex-smokers will die unnecessarily and earlier than they had to in the name of Big American Tobacco....and taxes.
The whole point of SnusCENTRAL.org is to be a place especially naive American smokers can go and learn the TRUTH about the differences between Swedish and American Snus. THAT is my passion: not to let Big American Tobacco get away with it again.
The Unloading Zone was a personal "whatever interested me at the time blog" never designed for what SnusCENTRAL.org's mission is. I originally intended just to create a new snus blog in Word Press so it wouldn't be as....unattractive as The Unloading Zone, my first experiment.
I do admit to getting a little carried away which is why it's still beta and not v1. SnusCENTRAL.com was just one of many extra's to draw people to the site: so they can get EDUCATED while they are there on the truth about reduced harm snus.
It's bigger than my blog posts now. I've had people ask to write their own columns....one guys blog so impressed me we're setting him up now. Others have asked about moderating the forum (THAT I really need)! It's news feeds, video, legislative updates, links to REAL scientific studies, and me of course, rambling on too long as usual.
That's why I read forums but don't post much....people rightly say I go on too long for a forum post. I'm a blogger, not a forum person. We have a little forum (hat's off to you, Snuson!) What a nightmare to manage...and you have 10K members!
Because for SnusCENTRAL.org to be complete, it had to have a forum...and a store, and all the rest....and the other things that are not visible yet. Big Tobacco and Big Government ARE Big. I may be just tilting at Windmills in the end. But I had to try. Because, this time, with snus, what people don't know WILL kill them.
I'll leave now so as to leave some room on the server for other posts. SnusOn was an inspiration to me in a lot of respects: not the forum aspect, but showing that there were people out there who knew the truth and were willing to share it. Thank you.
As to everyone else, buy your snus where you like (as long as it's REAL snus) and please feel free to stop over to the MAIN site and my true passion, SnusCENTRAL.org. We can't have too many voices and vehicles out there spreading the TRUTH about SNUS.
Hope that answers your question
.
Sincerely,
Larry, AKA Mr. Unloadingzone and now AKA Mr. UNZ at SnusCENTRAL.org.
