My suggestion would be for participants to post bond via PayPal to a trusted member. That may be a barrier to some, but if they have money to lose in the deal, it might keep boxes from disappearing. Keep the value of the box at $75 or less, and post a $100 bond. That way there's no incentive to make off with the contents.
I like that idea a LOT.

I think this may be A decent proposal as caller ID would confirm the persons name and if something happens to the box about 50 phone calls all hours of the day and night for days and weeks might deter anybody from trying to steal it as they would have to change both numbers and who wants to go through that. This would have to be known to all particapants up front before they sign up for the box pass.... it would seem there needs to be some kind of deterant put in place to stop future thefts....

That is kind of a good point. 150 posts does not necessarily show someone's activity and/or trustworthiness, but I don't have a better suggestion either. I just looked and don't have 150 posts either and I wouldn't consider a noob box being that useful to me at this point because there are VERY few that I have not tried. Those that I have not are unlikely to ever be in a box pass.

that may have been the one i put the goodies in. one had lucky strike, camel, romeo y julieta, and montecristo - like 7-8 cans of each.

Would Registered mail be overkill? Then you would know if it was stolen or not.

Big difference between lost and stolen in my book, especially when talking about the character of people on this forum or in general. It's just like blaming BuySnus because UPS lost your shit.

I like to believe that SnusOn members in general (even the brand new ones) CAN be trusted with this sort of thing. At least for the most part (I mean don't send dead bird parts covered with mortar and you'll be good IMO LOL).
I had 2 lost after I sent then, both full (50+ cans). Mrmynd stole the last one, and another one was "stolen from someones car". Bad luck with the Noob boxes.

I like the idea of including cell numbers.

Also, I like the other idea of more than one box going. Perhaps one of the newer guys can start one up for newer guys. That might be fun too, and no post count rules on it.

In my opinion, the snus that is put in the box, needs to come from the people that wish to receive the box. So, I say, we mail the snus to chad, chad sorts the X brands out and puts them in sandwich bags, then each person that sent in a can, gets their can back, with different portions inside. This way, everyone that wishes to participate will get to try some new snus and there is nothing for them to steal.

Each snuser should also send a few dollars to have the can shipped back to you.

I haven't participated in a box pass for a long time, but I had a lot of fun in the ones I was part of (even if the box got stolen). I really agree that trust and faith are important to the magic of something like this. It sucks to get burned (I know), but it's important to just shrug that off and make it right. I suggest not donating anything you would be heartbroken to see stolen. Once you donate your stuff and put your trust and faith in other people's hands you should accept that risk. If something goes wrong, shrug it off and just keep at it. There's a lot of people on this site willing to donate, so I don't see any shortage of stuff to put in the box or the replacement box. I would happily support a box pass without the extra qualifiers or new rules. I know some of you have really put some $$$ into these only to see it disappear, it's happened to me, it sucks really bad. But I suggest moving forward, as always, in good faith, knowing the risks, and letting karma work it out in the end.

    Cheers!

Edit: I also think having smaller ones and more than one at once would be good to hedge the bet a bit.
