I just got my first order which included general mini portions, general mini mint portions. gotlands julesnus and anis, and ettan lose. I had a mini mint for a bit and have had in a decent sized pris of ettan for about 15 minutes, and thankfully, am not having much trouble with it. I have given it a few sweeps of my tongue, and just keeping my lip relaxed. It's kind of migrating around the curve of gums. I came from amerian dip and I'm loving not having to worry about spitters anymore! I filled my pris master full and then handbaked it for a minute or so, not perfect, but a good first try

I've become a whole lot better at handbaking it after nearly finishing a can of Goteborgs Rape loose. At first, it took me a good 5-8 minutes to get a nice pris, now it usually takes no more than a minute.

Front is the way to go. Just relax the front of your face, and let the magic happen on it's own. If you force it, prepare for mud mouth!!

I successfully hand baked my first pris this morning. It held together really good for about 20 minutes and then started coming apart. I think it was mostly because I put it in too far to the side and it made me salivate a little too much. Next time I'll put it directly in front and see how it goes.

Great thread, I was placing the prillas furthor towards the back, and getting mud slide within minutes. Now I'm putting them under the mustache, relaxing my front lip, and it seems to be working. I've had a pris tool formed prilla in for over an hour now and no mud mouth. Very little poking with the tongue has helped.

before i got my snus i thought about a prismaster or an icetool but now i think they are just rip off devices
I have both, and I love both. I travel with the prismaster, and keep the icetool in the coke fridge with my snus. My baking skills still suck, so these tools have been an excellent way to get me into los snus. Especially the icetool. The prilla size is just right for me at this point.

Question, if you don't mess with the prilla, and it sits there nicely, how does the nic leak out? Does it migrate from the center to the outer edge and into the lip and gum or what? I was using my tongue to poke and prod for flavor, but ended up with mud mouth.

I'd say dissolving is normal. I've never gotten a couple of hours outa a pris unless I've fallen asleep with it. I just can't go that long without having a beverage. Drinking liquids accelerates dissintrigration.

I'm finding that if I just get it roughly the right shape and put it in there it's ok for a couple of hours, I can even keep it in place with my tongue.

I do find that after a long while I get little bits come into my mouth as the outer part of it dissolves, is this normal?

One thing that works for me is to occasionally open my mouth slightly and draw in air through my teeth. It draws excess saliva away from the pris, and dries out your gums a little as well. It will give you some extra flavor as a bonus...

A new little "trick" I have found over the past bit of time is the "inflate-and-poke". If I start to get some slide, I close my mouth and puff out my cheeks/lips. The pris tends to stick to the outer lip area and not the gums when I do this. While puffed out, I am able to use my tongue and actually roll the entire pris so that the side that was sliding is now on the top. It sounds crazy, but with practice, it works!
I find thid technique very helpful. thanks tooley.

The other thing that worked out for me was snusing the right sized pris. Out of habit I wanted to pich out the amount I might dip if it were cope. That was part of the problem. One day I realized I was making prillas 4 times the size of a portion. No wonder I was having migration problems.

I found that being a former dipper helps.

The first snus I hand baked was gotlands gul. It worked out fine.

I found that gentle in the palm at first making a somewhat round pris then sculpting with your fingers works great.

Make sure though that when you use your fingers to scult to be very gentle.

if you crack the pris you will have to start all over. Gentle but firm pressure, if that makes sense, is the way to go.

Yeah, hand baking is not hard, but also not practical most of the time for me. My hands are filthy with chemicals, grease, dirt, etc most of the day. My Icetool makes snusing very practical (as I use Los all day/every day). It paid for itself the first day I had it.

JUst got my snus yesterday, i was a dipper myself (oh and now an ex smoker). I have never had a problem with making a pris or mud mouth. I watched many of youtube videos. One thing to think about once you baked your pris take your sleeve and dry out the area you are going to place it (dryout your lip and gum and set it in there). it stays good. Today i went threw half a can of skruf strark los and finally got a buzz.

before i got my snus i thought about a prismaster or an icetool but now i think they are just rip off devices. Just practice tour baking and you'll know what firmness you like.

To me the more i use the easier it is to bake a pris

I'm a mess with lös! I love it, that's why I keep trying. I prefer the feeling over portion snus, with the exception that I miss being able to mess with it to have more flavor.
I found out that if I do absolutely nothing it stays well. But as I drink mate all day long, seems like the mouth movement to sip from the bombilla (metal straw) squash the pris. I always end up with a muddy mess!
I'm baking instead of using the prismaster 'cause like that I can do a smaller pris. Anyway, I'll keep practicing

I use the prismaster to measure the pris and then gently roll it by hand to make more of a cylinder shape.
