how do you deal with this? i buy my snus from a store nearby, but apparently i am the only person who buys loose, so the store always has "expired" cans (which i buy, of course). the can i just opened was best used by march 19th 2010, so its very dry. is there a way to fix this w/o buying snus elsewhere? i tried adding some water to a can of portions a long time ago. it got REALLY moldy after like 2 weeks, which i assume meant that even at the 4-5 day mark there was some mold in there, (which i consumed, of course), so idk what to do. how do you keep the loose snus moist?

I'm surprised the snus got moldy. I guess it picked up some spores when open, and things took off with the added moisture. You could try whisky, or maybe just water, but use it quicker. I've had some snus for a loooong time in the fridge, and it's never gotten moldy. It has dried out a bit, but I just use it as-is.

Bottledwater - maybe a dumb question but after you add the water do you store it in the fridge afterwards? I live in a very humid climate and have never had mold on snus, even expired snus that I purchased and rehydrated. I don't know if water quality has anything to do with it, but I would never use tap water - only 'bottledwater' from springs in France, or so the bottle says.
I'm also wondering if the place you purchased it from handled it properly; perhaps it sat in a warm warehouse, unrefrigerated for some time??

well, no. the snus didnt get moldy, the can did. i finished off the snus, i was just keeping the can on my desk (pretty cold in my room, maybe 68F, cuz i like it cold) because i hadnt thrown it away yet. the water i added was bottled water, so iono. i live in Massachusetts, so its a bit humid but not in the winter. i think im going to go with the whiskey, it should fix the dryness and give it some more flavor. thanks everyone.
