They would probably tell you if you asked. Contact them, you might be surprised. The guy I dealt with at http://primafint.se/ was very knowledgeable about his kits.

I ordered from http://primafint.se/Originally posted by sheilalynnI went to the one place that I've seen before that sells the snus kit, but it says that they're not shipping any at this time. Is there another place out there with them besides http://www.vikingasnus.se/index_en.html that has them?Originally posted by Mr. SnuffleupagusThe snusmaking kits I bought come with two packets of "NA 3 Carbonate". The instructions say to just use one unless you want strong nic.
Like many said though, it's a combination of multiple things IMO.
Here's another thread you might find usefull on this subject:

I actually do have tobacco seeds that I'm going to try growing next year just as a hobby type of thing to see if I can do it. Only so much you can grow on .17 acres in the 'burbs :P
The site is not in english. I contacted them through the website and set up the order via e-mail. Here's the thread:

One of the snus manufacturers (i think V2) has threatened to sell kits but I'm not sure when.
I'll bet if somebody made it easy to get the kits in the US, they would sell. I would think you could store the tobacco unbaked for quit a long time in case of an apocalypse.

I just did the calculation on rustica. I don't think it could be used for snus. The nicotine content is up to 9% which I think would be 90mg per gram. The more common tobacco strains have 1-3% which I guess would be 10-30mg per gram. Still sounds like a lot.

You wouldn't use 100% Rustica. It would be part of a blend with milder tobaccos. Rustica may not even taste good. That's something you'd have to experiment with.Originally posted by RRKI just did the calculation on rustica. I don't think it could be used for snus. Back when I was rolling, I had some D&R SJ Rimboche that was kind of beautiful. The dark strands of perique mixed in with the golden Virginia leaf looked gorgeous. It wasn't a terrible smoke, either, although all the D&R I tried missed for me for some reason.

I used to get the American Spirit Black label RYO on occasion, which had some perique in it. It was a nice change, but a little rich for every day use, at least in cigarettes.Originally posted by MojoQuestor

i am not an expert. i did some study at some point about tobacco, nic levels and making sterk. i never tried this but it seemed logical that it might work. normal tobacco leaf contains a fairly low level of nic. so how to fortify the nic level to make snus? first get regular leaf with a good level of nic and fortify with rustica. one would have to guess the nic level in the regular and rustica unless they had a lab. trial and error i guess. but when i was thinking about it i found Rustica leaf was hard to just go out and buy. the best solution i ever thought of besides growing it was buying rustica at a head shop. they may call them something else these days, head shop was what we called them years ago. some well stocked head shops sell rustica in small amounts. not sure how much one would have to buy to get some. i cant even remember why head shops sell it for. i guess people think they get high from smoking it, who knows. but it's nic level is massive compared to regular tobacco. when i saw the mention of rustica i just thought i would throw that in the 'pot' haha i crack myself up ahar ahar ahar
oh someone turned me onto a company that sells whole tobacco leaf by the kilo i think. cant order it on the net, it has to be ordered over the phone. i keep meaning to give making some homemade stark a try but just work too much.

I think perique is generally air cured but is it possible to find it non fermented?
It seems like primafint.se sells a virginia/burley mix but I would like to get this richer tobacco flavor.

I think it's fermented by definition. If I'm not mistaken, perique is made by packing tobacco in bourbon barrels where it then ferments. I'll look it up later, and see what the story is.Originally posted by RRKI think perique is generally air cured but is it possible to find it non fermented?
