    Keep Swedish Match Los Moist!

The cardboard tins for Swedish Match's Los snus aren't very conductive for keeping snus moist for longer than a few days. However, I did a little experiment and got wonderful results. As well, its super easy!

Here's are the steps for keeping the snus moist:

    1. Get a plastic bag

    2. Put the snus in the bag

    3. Flatten the bag so most of the air escapes

    4. Seal the bag

    5. Fold the bag around the snus can

This easy and cheap method will keep cardboard tins of los moist for longer periods of time. Also, no refrigeration required!

The first thing I do with my SM is put it in one of my Gottland tins.

Gotland has the best cans! They seal extremely well.

I like the look and feel of paperboard cans, but I have to say they dry out MUCH faster than my gotlandssnus cans. Two cans open the same length of time with the same amount of use, one SM and one Gotland, resulted in the SM can drying out but the Gotland can staying nice and moist.
I read somewhere on the forum about a method to revive dry snus where you add a little water to the snus and shake it up. I was skeptical, but when I tried it out on some roda lackett it worked perfectly!
I just need to use it up faster though, my use has been all over the map since I started back at school.

no need to push the air out. Just seal it enough for about a 1 inch hole and put your lips around the hole and suck in (Anyone else think its getting hotter in here?) and that ='s vacuum sealed baggies!

i use general es loose and it comes in those paper cans. the snus drys a lot faster in those cans even if they are still unopened. anyway, i keep several different kinds of snus opened at a time. i always put my snus in plastic bags like snusjus said. the bags that work the best are the cheapest sandwich bags. i cut the folding top part off. then i carefully put the snus over in the bag. then sit the bag in the can. longer i did it the better i got at it. now i can bag one with my eyes closed. the zip lock or thick bags suck for this use.

tell you another "trick" ive learned.
Snus that is drying out. ive never been able to bring back any snus that was already died and it still be any good. if its starting to dry or i even use this as a preventive for brands of snus that i don't use very fast (as i said above i keep a lot opened).

anyway, look where they sell smoking tobacco or cigars they sell what i am going to call humidity buttons. that may be their name but not sure right now. they are round about the size of a us quarter and about as thick as say 3-4 quarters stacked. they have holdes on both sides.

take the button and soak it in water. i always use filtered water or bottled water thinking that tap water might put a bad taste in the snus but who knows. i don't know how long to soak the buttons but i always soak them a few hours or just overnight.

then take the button and shake the loose water off the button. i sort of dry the outside of it too. you dont want water dripping from it. Then i put it in the can with my snus.

This is a slow ongoing process. if you try to rush the job there is a better than not chance you will end up with garbage.

I took a pic with my phone and posted it below. it's not a great pic but shows well enough i guess. Notice the button is not in the snus but outside the bag. if you put it in the snus itself it will make it wet but you have little control and it gets it too wet before you know it.

so far ive been able to make this work with portions and loose. i have made the snus too wet and messed it up. until you get the hang of it keep a closer eye on it, checking it every couple hours. later it will become old hat.

The general idea is like a mini humidifier.

The buttons cost roughly $1.25 each and can be reused infinitely.

Well boys and girls maybe it sounds like ive went over the edge but i have a lot of spare time on my hands to fool around  Maybe it helps someone, maybe it don't.

I was wondering about los drying up. I only have one can of los, and it's been opened for a few weeks now. I haven't opened it in about a week, as I'm trying to work through my portions so I can justify a new order. Does los lasts as long as portions, or less. Dried portions aren't that big a deal, but I might could see an issue with los.

It's easy to remoist los. Just chop it up with a spoon, add a little water, and mix it in, and press it down.

Sweet. That doesn't water the taste down any?

I didn't think so, but don't put too much, just enough, maybe even a few drops.
