    Rehyrdrating snus.

I have 4 open cans of los in the fridge.

I noticed first with the Skruf Sterk Los that after a week opened, it took on a very grainy consistency, and was somewhat dryer than when I first opened the can. I REALLY noticed the same thing with an opened Roda Lacket can. The pris I baked from it was so dry, it crumbled in my mouth.

I wanted to restore the moist, putty-like consistency of all my los instead of letting the cans go to waste. So I added some water to each of them - and VOILA! Back to the original moisture and consistency. I ziplocked all the cans after that. But I wonder - did I just ruin what I have left? Anybody else try this with good results? I just remoistened some semi-dry portions I had left over too, and it seemed to work fine.

I've read of others doing that. I just use my snus dry. It doesn't really get that bad, at least to my tastes. In any case, it shouldn't ruin it. There's an off chance you could introduce bacteria to the snus, but I don't think that's a concern, especially in the time frame you'll be using it.

Typically what is your usage with los? How many cans per day/week? I'm still in sampling mode and will open too many cans at once. If I can find one or two "keeper" brands, then I could have less cans open at once. That would probably solve a lot of my problems.

I guess I use 1.5-2 cans per week. V2 brands seem to keep the best, and SM brands in the paperboard the worst. I've had some months old, and they're still pretty good. Not as good as new, but good enough.

Apple slice works too. Bet cucumber could work as well

I have a small water bottle. I set it to the mist setting and give the snus a small spritz, shake the can, and let it sit overnight. I've done this many times without issue and the snus was fine. I don't use los though, so this was all portion.

I have also used an apple slice, but it doesn't taste as good to me after.

if you don't mind losing a couple grains of tobacco, get a roll of paper towel and tear off a little bit. enough to lay on top of the snus. get it wet and ring out the excess. Put it on top of the snus and close it up and let it sit for 24-48 hours in the fridge.

At least that works for me.

I also do this when a can gets too dry. I saw that bald guy do it on the "confessions of a former smoker" youtube series.

                  lol.

All of these will work fine and with each you can over do it. Of course you can always take the snus with you when you take a shower. Open the can leave it on the counter, etc... If the bathroom gets steamy you are hydrating your snus.

I have always wondered if that really works! If infact it does, it sounds like it would be the best method besides a slice of apple or mango!

It is probably the most gradual/careful ways to re-hydrate (thus you are not as likely to over hydrate the snus). That said, if your snus is bone dry you might want to mist it with a squirt bottle

Mango? Hmmm...that might just be the best suggestion I've heard so far to put on top of a can...maybe that way the Ettan might end up eventually getting used here

Adding a little twist to this method...place the paper towel inside a couple small circles of aluminum foil, crimip around the edges to make it fit inside the can, and poke several holes in the foil on both sides before putting it inside the can. Don't lose any snus and it slowly rehydrates it instead of just plunking the wet towel on top of it. I've been doing this for quite a while after another female snuser told me about it. If you don't use up los very fast (takes me quite a while to use a can), you might have to check it every week or 2 and replace the towel inside.

I would do this the way I did with my cigars before I got my humidor . Put them in a tuperware container . Along with your snus , you need to add a device that will regulate the humidity inside the container . Humidity beads are the greatest thing since sliced bread for this . These works great http://www.heartfeltindustries.com/p...Humidity+Beads . They are cheap for something that is reusable for just about ever ( just refill with distiled water). And you can get them at different humidity levels , for your original or white , according to how moist you like your snus . Now toss the container in your fridge and enjoy at your leisure (never kept my cigars in the fridge though) . The "moisture pucks" will release moisture as needed and absorb it if it's to high . I plan on doing this when my first shipment arrives . It will take a couple of days to rehydrate this way . But this way you know you will not be adding any flavor . Be sure to rinse the tuperware out really well to get rid of any plastic smell because your snus will absorb that as well . Sometimes you have to let the container sit open for a few days before using it . This lets the new plastic completely off-gas .

we can call it the Snus-a-dor
