    add water to dead snus?

Been lurkin here for a bit and decided it's time I jump in. Snusing for about 4 months now and down to 3 or 4 smokes a day. Last pack just ran out and I'm snusing up the willpower to not but another!
So far my goto is Odens Extra stark cinnamon and Clac qui with the occasional Thunder Frost to freshen the pallate. Though I seemed to have gone overboard and have about 40+ cans in the fridge and freezer

Due to all this sampling, I just discovered and can for the Oden's left in the heat of the car that is quite dry. What's the thought on adding a bit of water to extend the life? Feels somehow wrong just to toss it(somehow sacrilegious).

Can't thank you all enough for the enlightenment and advise I've found here!

I don't think it'd hurt to mist some spray of water on it, but if it's dry, it may also just take on the form of a white portion, and be fine like that.

        Welcome to Snuson mlkramer

Yes, it will work, many a folk have dome similar over the years. Or instead of water, you could try something like Whiskey, or Grape soda, or anything really.

But yes, the time tested way to bring snus back from the brink.

hmmm.....now eying that bottle of Bushmill's in the cabinet.

and thnx so much for the welcome!

After being lured by the dark side(camel US version). I have seen the light and can't believe what I was missing. Did my usual obsessive research and after lurking here for a few weeks, I'm truly impressed with the community here! My only hope being I can someday contribute 1/2 as much as I've gained from the great people here!

You can contribute long before then. Honestly, having folks just a few weeks longer here helps the brand new folks. much harder for folks like me to remember all the issues we faced when we first started out. for you, fresh in you mind and even easier to give advice for those folks.

So don't be shy jumping in when that brand new person shows up the day they just tried their first Swedish snus after using nothing but camel, and gagging on all the salt. you know better than most exactly what that is like, and how son it started tasting so much better.

honestly, that is what makes Snuson so powerful is we will always be having brand new folks showing up, so the slightly newer folks always have a generation right behind them that desperately needs your help even more than mine.

btw, your usage is exactly as mine was my first 3 -4 months of using snus. I used exclusively strong too. But eventually, I moved to using mostly regulars, with about 4 sterks throughout the day as the need arises.

I'll do my best to help! Least I can do.

As for usage, I'm thinking that will be the same curve I'm on. I've stocked up on quite a variety and already try to sneak some regular portions in throughout the day hoping to eventually have the strong stuff for moments like now(just finished lunch and thankfully no cigs to reach for) . I've gone as far as to double barrel on the Oden's ES.

So far, Haven't found any I couldn't stand and the only "aquired" taste(meaning I may appreciate it more later) is the 1847. Tried the peach discreet just before lunch and may have to consider it and the other flavored discreets the cheap desert wine.

My only fear at this point is the PACT rumblings I keep seeing mentioned. Finally find a quality, safer and enjoyable option and greedy, uneducated sh**heads seem to want to quash another choice.

Don't over stress it. We have a bunch of smart people here, we will figure something out if it ever comes to that.

Umm, from my experience, the 1847 just got worse and worse. One of only a very few snus I simply won't touch now. (Level and Jacobsins being the others)

When I first started, I used mostly flavored snus, then for about a year, iwas half and half between those and non flavored. then about 6 months ago, amy tastes changed again and i use almost exclusively non flavored snus now. About the only exception is LD Black about once a month.

I'm in the minority, but I love 1847. It's rare that I pull a tin out since I don't use portions much, but after it's open I really seem to fly through them. It's one of the few portions that are on my must buy list, along with Jakobsson's IceFruit which is another one people don't seem to like much :^D Other than those 2, I think my tastes are pretty mainstream :^D

Might just stick the 1847 in the freezer then for now.
I was going through all of them in hopes of acquiring a go to to stock up on. But I'm also discovering that taste change everyone talks of and coming to the conclusion that the "go to" will likely change over time. It's definatly a different concept then smoking as let's face it....most smokers really aren't about the flavor and smoked a certain brand more out of habit or some sort of loyalty.

I agree with you to a point, but smoking cigarettes is weird. I don't know why you get hooked on one brand, and that's it. My mainstay was handrolled American Spirits. I got other brands, even menthols to change it up, but I didn't prefer any of them to American Spirit. They were nice diversions, having a few different tastes during the day, but it's not like it is with snus in my experience.

I started smoking when I was 9, and quit when I was 42. So over 33 years, I used exactly 4 brands, not including my movement between Marlboro red, medium, and lights.

My last two switches were in the last years of smoking when the cigarette companies just came out with some better cigarettes.

yea...smoked for nearly 25 years. Although I'm not sure I should call myself a nonsmoker yet as I'm down to 2 or 3 a day and have only gone 3 days without so far. Today being the stop it altogether starting day(3rd such day). But back on point...I'm thinking i smoked maybe 4 brands in that entire time, ending with Camel Wides(hence the need for the strong snus).

I would exclude a good cigar from this conversation as I'm sure I'll always enjoy and occasional cigar and good tobacco flavor really comes out for me in and excellent one

Here's my list, in order to best of my recollection. I'm not including different styles from the same family, but some will be listed more than once if I switched, and then switched back...

                            Kool
                            Newport
                            Marlboro
                            Kool
                            Camel
                            Drum
                            American Spirit

Relatively heavy use of some other brands, but not quite up to "my brand" status.

                            Belair
                            Lucky Strike
                            Chesterfield
                            Players
                            Jester
                            Salem

Then a million 1 offs, or sometimes used that I won't bother listing.

                              LOL

                              Mine is so much shorter

                              Age 9 - 15 - Benson and Hedges

Age 15 - 40 - Marlboro (started with red, went medium when I was about 28, then lights at about 33 when that was what everyone smoked around me when I went back to them after a year break)

                              Age 40 - 41 - Camel Turkish Gold

                              Age 41 - 42 - Marlboro Blend No. 27
