taking the portion in and out while drinking?

Does the snus lose some properties if you take it, briefly but repeatedly , in and out while drinking a cup of wine? I've found the combination of snus+red wine very pleasing.

As this is my 1st post, here's my history with snus:

I quit smoking 2 years ago. Since I work writing late into the night, I need something that gives me some edginess, coffee won't do anymore. I bought some Göteborgs Rapé. It gives me dizziness since I seem to have lost tolerance to nicotine. Maybe I should have started with the mini portions. Any recommendations on the best minis?

Snus and red wine can be excellent together! I don't take it out though - no need to, really. I find plain tobacco tastes go well with red wine - smoky and peaty flavours rather than the more flavoured ones.

General has a mild pouched version, I think it's General Silver.
Taking the pris in and out with loose seems to me like a very messy affair.
Pouches though shouldn't be a problem at all.
As for mini-pouches: they're mostly targeted towards women who like flavored snus. I can't name a non-flavored mini off the top of my head.
Ettan White portions seems to be the bomb though, or so i've read.

Goteborgs Rape comes in white mini portions. When I ordered my portion try out box from Northerner, I wound up with some.

So does Lucky Strike, though I've never tried it. I'll stick to the regular LS portions.

Those are the only two I can think of, though there may be more.

          Goteborgs Rapé with a Pilsener

          Ettan with a Lager

          Diplomat with a Stout

Oh, and Goteborgs No. 2 with a Pale Ale!

Knox comes in mini's as well. Never tried it but heard good things about it. Once you get used to mini's you will probably move onto normal portions anyway.

As for taking it out when drinking, I never do. Everything goes well with snus! Coffee, wine, whiskey, tea, hot chocolate...

I agree with your list, but I've never tried Diplomat and find that Ettan also goes very well with a Stout. You should try it sometime if you haven't already.

Rape No. 2 with a Pale Ale... I couldn't agree more. A heavenly combination if there ever was one.

Ettan or Lucky Strike also go very well with a good porter.

I agree. I love a good coffee in combination with an Ettan or a Goteborgs No. 2. They compliment each other very well.

Ettan, yeah, but No.2 seems a bit sweet and fruity for coffee to me... The best snus, bar none, I've found to match with coffee, mind you, is Lucky Strike. By itself it's a decent snus, but it comes into its own when you have a coffee along with it. Brilliant stuff!

To each their own, I suppose. I like the Goteborgs No. 2 with an after-dinner coffee because of it's sweetness. In the morning though, or throughout the rest of the day, I prefer an Ettan with my coffee.

Hmm, I'll have to try a Lucky Strike with my coffee next time I have a cup. I can imagine that it would be an excellent combination. In fact, I think I'll try it later on tonight. Thanks for the suggestion.

Wow, interesting suggestions on snus with coffee. I think Diplomat and Onyx are perfectly matched with coffee but now I'll be sure to try the Ettan, Goteborgs no. 2 and Lucky Strike- I would have never thought to try either.

p.s. Soft Morning, City, did you end up trying the No. 2 with your herb?

i take mine out if my teeth get bothered by the hot or cold.
since my lip is lifted off the surface of the teeth, the insulation is gone...so my teeth are easily angered by cold/hot drinks.
also the liquid seems to mix or swill the snus especially if it's loose...if it's portion, it still gets soaked in whatever i'm drinking, losing some of the flavor of the snus or bastardizing after i'm done drinking.

Ah, fair enough. I don't let sugar get anywhere near my coffee... well, unless it's in the form of a doughnut, of course  Even then, they play at separate ends of the pool. I can see what you mean about it going well with a dessert coffee, though - perhaps even a greek/turkish style cardamom coffee or something with an italian flavour shot.

Ah yes, I did get around to trying the Goteborgs Rape No. 2 with my herb. Your recommendation was absolutely spot on, I love the combination. As long as I throw in a portion before I start smoking, the dry mouth isn't even an issue. For some reason the lingonberry taste keeps me salivating. It's wonderful.

Ah, see, I like a bit of cream and sugar in my coffee most of the time. Not too much, granted. My general rule is that I like my coffee to taste as it smells... slightly sweet. I tend to only drink my coffee black when I'm at home and I can brew it myself with my favorite beans. Ethiopian beans are my favorite if I'm drinking black.

I'm very picky when it comes to black.
