So far, I've had good luck with the Ziploc Brand Vacuum Freezer Bags.

Have over 20 Ziploc gallon bags of snus in the freezer (and a few quart bags), from which I've removed a few cans in the past week and resealed with no problems; hopefully nothing changes in that respect.

I've had problems with the Reynolds/Debbie Meyer Bags (not as rugged and made to be refrigerated, not frozen). I've only had problems with a couple of the Ziploc bags and found it was due to some pinhole caused by something I was trying to vacuum seal (sliced cheese in a plastic container).

If you overstuff the bags, you'll have a sealing problem if you can't find a flat surface for the entire seal area; I've placed a snus can under the seal area itself to bring it more in line with the enclosed cans and ensure a proper seal.

ON ANOTHER NOTE: My freshvac containers are due in today via FedEx (my first time with them). Right now the FedEx site says On FedEx vehicle for delivery. Hopefully I won't have to wait all day ('til 7pm) to find out if I did actually order the wrong sets!!

We believe that freshvac is manufactured from the highest quality materials,

    • freshvac PRE has no warranty.
    • freshvac PLUS has a limited warranty.
    • freshvac PROFESSIONAL has a lifetime warranty.

The PRE probably doesn't come with any extras!!
Figured I'd save a few bucks with the PRE...........or maybe Penny Wise, Pound Foolish.

My original set is a PRO.
The basic difference, I thought, between the PRO and the PRE was with the handles.

    Well...
The things we miss when in a hurry:

What are freshvac containers made of?
freshvac containers are constructed from either polypropylene or polycarbonate plastic.
    • freshvac PRE: BPA-free polypropylene bottom and lid
    • freshvac PLUS: BPA-free polypropylene bottom, and polycarbonate lid
    • freshvac PROFESSIONAL: Polycarbonate lids and bottoms

The store locator for me was useless.

Just got the Fed-Ex tracking number -- they should be here Friday.

The FreshVac site has A local store locator, So you can see if there is a store in your area.... I had one 30 min away.... But saved the gas and time and ordred them online....

Glad to hear they are still lasting 2 + years as I didn't know, My guess is they would last even longer with the extra seals that are given with them... They also come with A lifetime warrenty and that info is included.....

Do the seals last a long time?

I've had a set of 5 (different sizes) going on 2 years and I've only had a problem with 1 container; don't know if it's the gasket or the container... didn't try to use that container 'til about 6 months ago -- kinda late to chase down a receipt (it was a gift).

How do I create a vacuum seal?
    • Be sure the edges of the lid and container are clean and dry.
    • For PROFESSIONAL & PLUS lines: Place the lid on top of the container, matching handles over tabs.
    • For the PRE line: Snap the locking handles into place.
    • Press lever down into closed position.
    • Push firmly on the center of the lid several times to remove the air from inside the container.
    • Each successive time you press, more air is forced out of the container, causing the vacuum indicator button to become inverted.

How do I release a vacuum seal?

To release a vacuum seal, lift the green lever. It's that simple.

    Satisfied freshvac user..

    ~
After the discussion in a different thread, I decided to get more freshvacs online.

    After a little research, I decided to get a couple sets from freshvac.com;
I actually use these also for food storage.

I ordered a double set of rectangle and a double set of square (similar to the container you got):

freshvac PRE 12-piece square kit from Freshvac

This 12-piece square container kit features the PRE line from Freshvac.

This kit comes with 6 containers in 3 great sizes—convenient for storing everything from herbs to large fresh produce.

Freshvac PRE is made of BPA-free, #5 plastic, and features Freshvac's vacuum sealing valve that preserves freshness up to 4 times longer than regular airtight only containers.

These durable containers are tools for cutting back on waste--wasteful food spoilage and wasteful disposable containers and plastic wrap--saving you money in the long-run!

Single Set of 3 containers (1 each of 3)

Double Set of 6 containers (2 each of 3)

NOTE: Bottoms are dishwasher safe but I won't chance the tops
'cause of the gasket and the vacuum doohickey.

[The set I received almost 2 years ago as a gift does have one
container that refuses to seal so I just use it as I would a Tupperware]

After some thought, I'm not gonna bother with Walmart's online doodoos -- too much bother for me. I may just look into the single container from Target -- or maybe just wait.

Ladies were practically trying to go down on me as I wheeled my cart up front...
