    Converting the Masses

Well, it's been a while since I've posted here, and I just wanted to pat myself on the back for converting 2 new people to snus. Both were co workers, one smoked 2 packs a day and the other a dipper. Why do I derive so much pleasure in sharing my snus addiction with others, when in the long run...they'll probably be the reason my next order will be on back order?

How many of you out there have turned others to snus from the dark side?

I don't even know other smokers except my parents and they won't budge... they think smokeless is dangerous and will stick with their 2-3 pack per day habit (who says with age comes wisdom)

I've tried to get my Father-in-Law to switch over, but all I've accomplished is adding a snus addiction on top of his smoking addiction.

LOL I got my dad to try e-cigs and rather than quick smoking he just used the e-cig in between smoking sessions.

i have converted a couple of people in person. i work on the net so i know more people over the net ive never met. of those ive converted more people. i am not sure how many. i target the long term heavy smokers as they have already tried everything else and easy to get them to try snus. plus i relate to them better.

one tip to the person who now smokes and snuses... use the high nicitine snus. soon cigs wont hit the spot like snus will. makes cutting down and quitting cigs easier. plus buy cigs you dont like. get your nic from starks and your smoke from crappy cigs. soon you will wake up and be able to leave the cigs off. low nic snus just dont help a old smoker much

Good job. Never had any luck myself. Most just assume it's dip/ chew and won't give it a fair shake.

              For shame.

My mother, after 20+ years of smoking still believes smokeless is dangerous and kills and she'd rather just keep smoking...

My dad has been smoking for 40+ years and won't put it down.

He's tried snus and I bought him 100 tabs of Stonewalls and he just hasn't dropped the cigs.

I have attempted to give a buddy of mine that uses grizzly dip. He used it for 15 minutes and spit it out and said, this makes me want to get a big fat lip of grizzly instead lol.
I told him this stuff was strong than grizz I guess he did not feel the power of Thunder ES. *Sighs*

That's probably because he most likely dips half a can of grizz at a time, which is loads of nicotine.

I've noticed that people that dip can use more than a can or two a day! Compared to a lös snus user that won't finish a can in a day or two. If a dipper used as much snus as they did dip they might OD on nicotine. lol

Well, we should all take pleasure in it because, in the long run, the best way to ensure that snus will continue to be available in America is to get as many consumers using it as possible. The more the merrier. So way to go!

I have yet to be successful converting anyone. (That I know of--have told a couple of strangers about snus, but never saw them again, so who knows?)

i've converted a few to E-Cigs, but snus is more complicated - alot of it has to do with them thinking of American smokeless tobacco and losing a jaw - they think that the Swedish tobacco companies are just as bad as the US ones, and are hiding important data....

I've pretty much stopped trying to convert anyone to snus. By I try to
make sure they're aware of Swedish snus (and that it rhymes with
moose/goose). When they see even the Camel or Marlboro displays
they, hopefully, will remember some of the things I nonchalantly told
                            them about the 'real' snus.

Until they're ready for snus, of any kind, you're just blowing smoke
back at them if you push too hard. I make sure to tell them that
what they do is their own business; just keep in mind that there's
a healthful alternative in Swedish snus.

It's proving hard to get past the fact that 90 percent of what people "know" about tobacco is wrong and that 99.99% of what they know about smokeless is wrong and worse still differentiating snus from the rest of the smokeless realm is a major uphill climb for such a small cohort as the likes of us. We ain't going "viral" any time soon. If RJR were to lose overnight a number of smoking patrons equal to the entirety of Swedish snus users in this country it would scarcely register a blip on their sales charts, which are in a steady decline as it is. Even outfits as venal as RJR and Altria can read the large handwriting on the wall hence their forays into snus but their corporate cultures simply will not abide simply copying the form factors of scandinavian product which is why their stuff is so desperately inferior.

They are really old dogs in the tobacco game and they are supremely resistant to learning new tricks. They contradictorily think they can reinvent the wheel in the case of snus which is bizarre logic indeed. They wouldn't think of doing something so weird as introducing a new line of square cigarettes or an asparagus flavored dip but they feel free for some perverse reason to "re-invent" snus. If RJR were in the car business they'd probably introduce a vehicle shaped like a phone booth that ran on Chanel #5 perfume. Their snus strategy makes about as much sense.
