So i saw the Robust in our local gas station yesterday. Had to try some since it was only $2.18 a can. I agree, that the new can design is cool. As for the stuff it self, i could use this stuff occasionally. The new portion size is definitely better, the sweetness is still there but not quite as bad. I done two portions while at work for the afternoon. Then popped in a general mint on the way home. While at home i had to think if i still had the camel or general in. I'm thinking i will try an experiment and only use Robust at work all day today and see how it holds up after a whole days use. Since i am in one of the banned states it would be good if i could stand to use it. I will try out the Winterchill too someday, just to try it out.

LaZeR's Quick Review on the new Camel Frost: (Still can't locate the "Robust")

Portions: A little fatter (as in rounder) but skinny & a tad longer.

Taste: Still too sweet but noticeably less sweetened. Refreshing minty taste. Not sure if after-taste problem (like Marlboro shite) or not yet cause I'm on my first portion and haven't removed yet. (aprox 25 min.s in) Still good flavor.

Moisture level: Still too dry for my preference - more like a "white". = Maybe that's by design I guess...

Nicotine: I'm not floating or anything but can feel a little more Vitamin N in these than before.

Tin: Very sexy tin. Almost makes me want to touch myself.

Bottom Line: If the real snus gets too hard to get, I can see me doing these if all else fails even before going back to dip/chew. I still much prefer true Swedish Snus at this point but good to see an American Co. moving in the right direction. Marlboro is so far behind, they need to just give up now. Camel has a shot and I'm eager to try the "Robust" now more than ever! As it stands now, I'll probably see myself consuming a tin or so of these per month mixed in with the good snus.

Tom, I forgot to mention. When you get to the bottom of the new tins, you just rub the shiny part a little and Hannah's b00bies flop right out.

Ok so here is an update on my day with Robust. I started the day with a pris of Gen los. Once i got to work at 8:00am i started on the Robust. Had two portions through the morning. No real bad aftertaste, no jonesing at all so i was getting enough nicotine. They are very dry, just like a white, the material sits ok on my gum. I stuck with the camel for the after lunch but had had enough by around 2:30pm. It was about then i popped in a pris of Gen Los just to finish the day out.
So yeah, i can do them, they do work. The flavor reminds of the mellow only more rich and a little less sweet. Defintiely a step in the right direction but not quite an all dayer yet. I'll probably use them to stretch out the good stuff further.

Next time i'm in the gas station i will pick up a can of the winterchill. For $2.00 they are worth trying once.

With the new design/overhaul, I wonder why they made the Winterchill and Robust full size portions, but not the Frost? I bought all three of the new cans today, Haven't tried 'em yet. Though when I looked in them, the Frost is still the small, skinny portions like before, but the others are full-size. Doesn't make sense.

I bought some robust and have a portion in right now. It's better than decent. It's kind of expensive at just under 4 dollars a can, I'll keep the can and keep using these. They're fairly sweet and remind me of monster chai hai which I like but was never crazy for. The guy at the gas station asked if I was a smoker and I said not really and he was like good most smokers hate this stuff. Can says 0 percent american 100 percent foreign tobacco so that's unique. Can design is kind of retro but good looking. Portions look too dry but they're not abrasive.

I'm guessing it's due to consumer testing. Wintergreen and plain(Robust) probably appeal more to men, hence the larger size, while Frost and Mellow appeal more to women, so they're smaller. If snus takes off, they may differentiate them the way the Swedes do, and have 1 flavor in 2 sizes. That's probably too costly to do at this point. I think SNUS is doing /ok/, but it isn't a huge seller at this point.

Well, I have my first portion of Camel Robust in right now, and I am finding the taste very familiar. It's been a while, but I think the flavor is basically the same as the discontinued Camel "Original." (Camel originally came in 3 flavors--Original, Spice, and Frost. Original and Spice were discontinued and replaced with Mellow some time ago.) Back when I was using Camel, Original is what I used most of.

Now that I have a decided taste for Swedish snus, I'm finding the sweetness of the Robust (which,to the best of my recollection, is pretty much at the same level as Original), something of a distraction and something I wouldn't want all the time. But I can definitely see it as an occasional change-up. And, I'll admit, at times in the past couple years I've found myself sometimes wishing I could have a pouch of Camel Original, so this Robust will satisfy that urge. It definitely will not replace my go-to General, and my other Swedish favorites, but I can see myself going through a tin or two of Robust each month. And it's good to know there's a fairly decent gas-station alternative if, God forbid, I find myself out of Swedish snus.

Final note: the larger portion size is an improvement over Original (at least now that I'm used to Swedish regular portions--back when I was using Original, I didn't know any better), and I'm finding the pouch to feel very comfortable in my mouth.

So I decided to try to winterchill today. There isn't much I can say about it, if you like wintergreen lifesavers you will like it, if you don't you won't, because that is exactly what it tastes like to me. So yes, it tastes like candy, not tobacco, but if you need some nicotine and a breath mint, it may do it for you lol. I think I will get a can on occasion, but I like the robust better.

Edit-Just for clarification, the flavor is much more mild than wintergreen lifesavers, but that is what it tastes like to me, just a less intense version.

So far I have tried the Winterchill. Still no comparison to Swedish, but it seems Camel is actually doing their homework, theyre just not quite there yet. They definately get an "A" for making it a full size portion. And much more moist than used to be, but still not quite enough. I did get somewhat of a salty taste for the first few minutes, which really surprised me. And its much less sweet than the Frost, but still far too sweet after its been in awhile. Though the sweetness took awhile to come on, so if you take it out during the first half hour, you might not notice it as much.

The worst thing for me is I get kind of an "ashtray" taste in the backround - probably from the crappy tobacco used. Ever accidently drink from a coke can someone put a ciggarette out in? Thats the taste I'm talking about.

All in all, I give them props for at least trying, but can't see myself ever really using this product until they sort the rest out.

I kinda wanna try it, but I am near certain I won't like it, and just give it to my buddy, who gets all my unliked snus, but never uses it himself.

Did anyone else notice on the new tins and ads they stopped capitalizing "SNUS" ? They even went as far as not capitalizing any letters in the flavor. They must be paying attention to what we are saying somewhere, either here or on those damn surveys some of us joined............

EDIT: On their site they now have a "Swedish Translator", and "facts about Sweden". In their eyes they must now think they are making genuine, Swedish snus.

                            /facepalm

They actually do capitalize it in the text on the back. So that's still their naming convention.

Got a tin of Winterchill and Robust today on my way home from Gatlinburg Tennessee. Stopped at a gas station right outside Sevierville. I also spotted some in my home state of West Virginia so it must be out almost everywhere now. Winterchill has hardly no flavor to me and Robust is ok. The sweetness isn't nowhere near as pronounced as frost or mellow.
Its funny the WinterChill smells like wintergreen dip to me.
On a side note the Camel Dip Wide Cut Wintergreen has me wondering. Camel says its the first wide cut dip but I beg to differ. Since its made by Conwood who also makes hawken dip
I cant help but wonder if its the same thing.
