Low Tax Brands in the USA

    From the Northerner website:

Due to the way US State taxes are structured, some brands will be taxed higher than others. The brands we recommend from a taxation standpoint are Gotlandssnus, Jakobsson's, Thunder and Offroad. These brands will only cost our US customers a fraction more than they did before.

I was just curious if anyone could explain this, Since my understanding is that most state taxes are based on weight, does this mean that Gotlandssnus, Jakobsson's and V2 cans weigh less than Swedish Matches or is there some other factor?

I think it's due to most states taxing on wholesale value, not retail. Lower wholesale cost=lower tax.

I was wondering the same thing as well. Good to know. Hopefully I enjoy the can of Thunder Original Los I have yet to try, since it's dirt cheap.

          My state does
by weight.. Which makes Los twice as much tax wise.. I haven't tried Los yet and probably won't anytime soon

Don't feel too bad. You get the same amount of prillas from a can of los as portions (24). Reason be, most prillas are 2 grams each (at least in Sweden and Norway).

I wanted to try it for the experience too.

Now, when I'm home I pretty much use Lös exclusively.

Pick up a can of General Lös at your tobacco shop if they sell it and give it a try.

Los is twice as heavy, because it is about twice as much tobacco as portion cans. A standard portion is 1gram, and a 24gram can has 24 portions, los snus is usually a 45gram, sometimes 50gram can, so you get 45-50 1gram prillas out of it.

Approximately how many grams is a 2 ml prilla?

A 2 click prilla is usually about 2 grams. On my 4 ml Icetool, 2 clicks equals 2 grams. So 2 clicks on a 3 ml tool would be slightly less than 2 grams, I would think, unless the distance between clicks is greater on the 3 ml.
